Ninja Gaiden goes in the old classic format of gameplay with the level then big boss routine. This installment of the series is not for the light hearted with a story line packed with action this one is probably for the more patient gamers. With the easiest difficulty comparing to veteran mode on CoD4 you can tell your in for a challenege on the first fight scene. Become master of the blade with this epic adventure game.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Good game but very hard to master

This is a very hard game to play weather you are good at videogames or not, can be very fastrating, some boss levels require super human skill to beat. You have been warned.

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Harsher than the first one!!!!!

I had only previously played Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the PS3, that was difficult but I managed to crawl through it on hard mode and was looking forward to this one.
At first I was not disappointed the graphics are top notch and the combat is awesome. There are plenty of moves to learn with a few decent weapons. The finishers are brutal and the ultimate techniques have also been improved compared to Sigma.
Upgrading still costs a fortune but is well worth it if you want to get anywhere with this game. The enemies and bosses are also good and the story is ok despite not making sense.
What dissapointed me about this was how hard it was - I consider myself a decent player but this game was far too harsh. I dont have a problem with difficulty but in later levels the AI in this game is just far to cheap and a hassle to beat. The new health system is actually harder than Sigma's to use because there are less health items to be found in this one - as if the game was not already hard enough! and the last level - 3 bosses one after the other with no save point between them! very difficult!
I know this game is supposed to be old school and I feel like a real wimp saying this but they could have rebalanced the difiiculty on this to make it more enjoyable to everyone. Instead they made an already hard game even harder - I have managed to clock this on normal mode and it was such a chore that despite feeling glad I did it I wont play the game again. Dont go for this if you want an easy time, this game will kill you!!!

Is what i thought being as hard headed as i am, when everyone was saying its sooo hard i thought thats what they said about all the COD's on Veteran, DMC Dante must die, and many more that i breesed through without hassel and thought wht were they on about. As it turns out spectacularly difficult ive crawled my way through this game on Warrior (The second of 4 difficulties) and am proud of doin that.
As with most if not all Japaneese the plot is absolute rubish but the game is amazing. Combat that rewards skill and learning the moves rather than button mashing. Lovely graphics and a strong and intresting inventory of unique weapons means this is a truely epic game for any who feel up 2 a challenge.

Well yes, I believe it is. That is if you are not put off by dying alot of the time, if you can learn the combinations properly and concentrate on what the enemy is doing and be able to read when to dodge, when to block, and when to attack. I'm 20years old, I completed the first Ninja Gaiden on HARD MODE. I'm not really the type of person who is into Star Wars, Comic Books, Animay, that type of thing, and that is what I honestly thought this type of game was. I was so wrong. There is a part in the first game (the seccond boss) where you just have to step up and use the tools you have at your disposal. Sadly, for Ninja Gaiden 2 this happens on the last Chapter. There is not one boss, but 3, one after another without a save point. Make sure you have enough essence (money) to buy the items to see you through to victory, thats my advice. The story sucks, I won't lie about that. But the game play more than makes up for it, and the reward of joy you get from completing it. If you are a determined gamer, an abled gamer, you should put this game on the way of the warrior and play it untill you complete it. The graphics of the surroundings on this game are beautiful, and a great backdrop to the brutal violence of you slicing limbs off your enemies and slicing them in two. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is great, and the rewards for success are immence. Just having the achievements on your gamertag makes you proud. If you're a 14yr old child without the staying power and concentration of a more mature gamer, I would advise you give this one a miss, or maybe play it on the easy mode. Or if you are a 14yr old child who wants bragging rights, and is determend, show your mates who is the best at games by completing this on hard mode. You get the picture, if you're a casual gamer who prefers racing games or petheticly easy adventure games, give this one a miss. However if you're somebody who can master the combinations and a skillfull gamer who likes a challenge, this one is for you.

A very poor game by a ninjas standards. This game was very difficult to play no matter what age u are. The fighting is good in away because u can slice and dice your enemies. It is so repetitive it is scary . U walk on rooftops of buildings and again and again enemies jump out from no where. This game stinks with nearly everything about it apart from the gore element to the fighting. The story was rubbish aswell

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Abs awesome game!!!

i bought this game never playin the first. wen i told my friends i ordered it they looked at me like i woz crazy, wen i asked y the faces they replied tht is one of the hardest games on the xbox! which is tru it is so hard but so rewardin wen u complete a chapter or a boss. the graphics are amazin and the game play is awesome! i've noticed sum ppl slate it 4 bein 2 fast and alot like button bashin but if u rlly enjoy it there are combo's u can look up. i wud say only buy this game if u love a challenge and have paitence becoz u will get throu the hards parts wiv a lil bit of prac. i mean i've never played a game like this b4 but i stuck at it and completed it and i tell u i cnt w8 2 go throu it agen.
awesome buy! awesome game! killer moves!
but only dwnside is, it's a game not everyone will enjoy sum gamers are not tough enough 4 it.

I bought this game with high expectations. I knew that it was a very hard and challenging game but COME ON!!. Its far too fast paced which is annoying cos 9 times out of 10 you dont even know what you have done. The fighting is a typical button mashing thing and i hate that. I'm really dissapointed with this because i was really expecting a lot more out of it. I think if they made the fighting system similar to the fighting system of say prince of persia where there is a variety of combo's to learn along with dual weapons control it would be a much more enjoyable game. I personally think this was made just to earn an extra few quid.

I never played the first NG because I didn't have an Xbox, but I understood it to be an excellent action game. After watching gameplay videos online, I couldn't wait to play the sequel. In hindsight, I should have just bought NG: Black, which is available from XBL.

After playing the first two chapters, you would be forgiven for thinking it's fantastic. Play the demo. It's faster than lightning with a good emphasis on defense and counter-attacking. The difficulty is spot-on (on the harder difficulty setting) and it looks reasonably pretty to boot. You fight through environments that blend traditional Japan with a futuristic Blade Runner-esque city, leaving a trail of gore. There's nothing "better" than surveying the scene after a fight and seeing about 30 limbs scattered across the blood-coated floor. You forgive the camera issues that everyone talks about and get on with the hacking and slashing and you wonder why noone ever made a game based on Kill Bill before. You look forward to the combat becoming deeper, becoming a master with your weapons, ultra-intense boss battles and maybe even a battle with Lucy Liu outside in the snow at night.

But the game never realises any of your hopes. In fact, it proceeds to suck for most of the next 12 chapters, after which it finally ends and you wonder why you bothered. So what goes wrong? Well to start with, you start seeing a lot fewer ninja enemies and a lot more green-blooded slime dragons, big muscley wolf-type enemies and gun-toting robots, which just aren't nearly as fun to fight against. I'm not saying I wanted the same enemies for the whole game, just something more dynamic. Along with this, most of the environments, particularly in the final half of the game are very uninpired and mostly pretty bleak.

Even worse is that the game becomes something of a button masher, especially with the introduction of the Eclipse Sythe at the end of Chapter 6, which is far too overpowered and pretty much the only weapon you'll be using for the rest of the game.

But even if you switch to the other weapons for variety, you'll realise that despite the huge Tekken-esque move list for each one, you'll never learn any of it. You'll simply button mash X and Y intuitively and it'll work out fine. And as for defense, just jump around like a maniac. The variety of moves is simply there to keep the combat looking exciting, while not actually being that interesting to play.

I'm not saying the game gets easy - you will die a fair few times (I got the achievement for dying over 100 times) - but it's usually because the game is cheap rather than providing you with an intresting challenge, especially with the bosses. This game has *terrible* bosses. There's rarely any structure or gradual offense - 90% of the fights will involve running up to the head and pummelling it until you finally get kicked away. Do that twice and you've probably won within 30 seconds. Three times and you've definitely won. What's difficult about it is that many of the bosses attack so frequently and with such broad range, it seems impossible to avoid them. At one point I was fighting two giant armadillo bosses and they were bouncing around and shaking the screen so much that you couldn't see what you were doing. To makes these issues worse, the game makes you fight most of the bosses at least twice, some three times and one of them four times (and they'll be identical fights every time).

I could go on and talk about how the plot is honestly the worst I have ever encountered, with awful characters, or how the game is far too long. But look, it's basically fun. I've given it 3 stars, right? And despite it's length, I never stopped playing it. I just wish I'd bought NG: Black.

first of all probably the hardest game i have ever bought, for example after going through chapter _ i had to fight a boss, easy enough, then a second boss, however after defeating this humongous beast it decides to explode after i kill it killing me earning me a game over.

however getting past that with the beatiful graphics and the fluid gameplay make it legendary
