Let me start by saying it's not 10/10, it's 9/10.
Little things tick me off about this game that have appeared in all other turn based games ever made such as the totally "random" monster battles that you cant avoid at all or the way you can't cancel larger casting animation sequences to make the battles pass by quicker.
Other than that though, this game does deliver, I originally bought it just to pass the time while my PC got fixed, but here I am, PC fixed and still playing. There are 4 disks each packed with highly detailed cutscenes, great character convos and, my fave, amazingly well written short stories of the main character Kaim's 1000 year old dreams.
The story of this game is highly immersing and what seems like a couple minutes turn out to be a couple hours once you begin to progress further and further into the extremely well planned storyline, filled with plot-twists and suprises.
I have one problem with the story, but at risk of creating a spoiler I wont say anything and hope you will see it for yourself.
As a final note, the game does allow for side-quests, mini-games and character buffing throughout the game and the levelling system is unique as your mortal characters, who take up half of your party usually, learn new skills by levelling up, while your immortal characters learn skills by learning off other mortal characters or special items.
Fans of the Final Fantasy turn based series will adore this game and will not be disappointed. The opening cut-scene is epic and is closely matched by FMVs in future disks to give the player a sense of being rewarded.
Don't miss this title as a good turn based game is hard to find these days and it's going to be a loooong wait for FFXIII.
