Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars one of the most awesome JRPGs

This has to be one of the best jrpgs i have played in a long long time so to finally buy a game that replicates the epicness that final fantasy brought to life is an honour indeed.
In many ways it feels a lot like ff7 with the graphics similar to ff10 but so much better.
Even though this game uses random encounters rather than real-time combat, you shouldnt let a small factor like that prevent you from playing an extremely heartfelt and emotional story that in many ways recaptures the essence of a true role playing game.
Lost odysseys use of random encounters doesnt get annoying like other games do, due to the fact that you can run a pretty long way before the battle screen floods the screen.
As well as this the combat is filled with twists. Its much different to just waiting your turn and then attacking. There is the concept of rings, casting times and guard condition that makes the battles that much more real time orientated as well as giving normal attacks a little more flare!
As far as progressing through the story, for rpg players that play real-time purely because its easier to level up and you dont have to fight if you dont want to, will find that becasue of the time distance between battles you can run around for a long time (sometimes too long).
Plus the enemies are not easy to kill. Bosses especially.
The use of immortal and mortal characters gives a little something to the story as well.
If you want an rpg that will take you ages to complete, this will. Generally cos its a four disc game!
The graphics are immense, the characters are awesome and their personalities differ greatly, the attention to detail is far beyond any other game i have played.
If your an rpg fan this is a must buy, this is a truly amazing game,
Dont miss out!

Game is awesome. If your a fan of ff games then this is for you. Graphics are brilliant and good action scenes and plenty of spells to use. Good storyline which keeps you going back. Fighting scenes can be annoying when running about but its just like ff7 which is a classic and the best in my opinion. Only drawback is low frame rates which are barely noticeable and dreams are long but can be skipped. excellent game overall and a good addition to collection.

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars annoying

Annoying sums this game up. the battles are incredibly boring and pop up just when you dont want them. i cant understand how anyone finds this exciting when its turn based. "oh no the crab thing has took off 172hp, what will i do?!" thats how boring it is. The dreams are annoying and too long and tiresome to read. Another bad point is the camera angles which are bad especially when trying to see something small behind something. The only reason i'm not giving this 1 star is that, graphically, it looks very nice indeed.
don't pay anymore than 15 pound for this.

I bought this game as i was a big fan of Japanese RPG's such as final fantasy and some others. The game itself is excellent in many different ways. These include: Superb Graphics (excellent character detail), an amazing soundtrack (one of the best game soundtracks i've heard in my opinion) which makes all battles enjoyable and epic, great system for skills, weapons and rings. This is a game i would definetely recommend to anyone who enjoyed the final fantasy games or even to anyone who likes RPG's. I haven't given it 5* because the game does have some minor framerate issues which can sometimes be annoying.

Lost odyssey has good old fashioned final fantasy gameplay, as well as lovely graphics. The skill learning system makes getting skills much more strategic way of getting more perks. Great story line as well. However it is nothing Unique and as a RPG it does get repetitive.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Very good game

Playing this game made me feel very reminiscent of Final Fantasy 7 and all the other old JRPGs I played when I was younger.

Be warned the game itself is very old school, which is probably why liked this game. The battle system is turn based and you have random battle encounters.

The graphics are very good but the soundtrack is the biggest strength adding emotion to the long cut scenes. I recommend getting the soundtrack if you can.

The storyline I found to be very engaging and emotional at some points. A 1000 year old immortal who has no recollection of his past must help stop a raging magical maniac from taking over the world. As the story progresses and Kaim recalls memories you discover that the main bad guy and Kaim are past acquaintances, but I wont say anymore to spoil the story.

However the best part of the game for me personally was reading the journal entries. As you progress through the game certain areas and events will trigger a memory in Kaim about his past life. Although these are not cut scenes but short stories like a diary. I found them to be very entertaining and emotional.

In terms of achievements they are not hard to get just time consuming. 500 points come from just completing the game. The rest of them come from gaining all the skills for every character and collecting every treasure in the world etc. It took me around 40-60 hours for 100% completion with 1000 gamer score.

All in all not to everyones taste but I personally found it very entertaining and a worthy purchase.

Also I bought the Asian region free version as you get the better case which has four separate disc trays for each disc and comes in a fatter case. The English comes with 3 discs on one spindle and a fourth in a paper case wedged with the manual.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars This game is an Excellent RPG game!!!

Let me start by saying, THIS IS A GREAT GAME!!! Anyone who disagrees are either people who have not patients or are not any good at playing RPG games.
What I expect from a good RPG game is good game play, longevity, excellent graphics, and an epic story.
Lost Odyssey delivers on all!!
The only gripe I had was with the XBOX360 system, it kept crashing when I was in the middle of a major fight or had not saved for about an hour (mainly due to the way the game is set out). This was really frustrating but because the game was so addictive I persevered.
It's NOT worth the £34.99 it's priced at, mainly because I bought a sealed copy for only £14.99 recently!! So look around and you may find it cheaper.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars I enjoyed it and at £20 you cannot go wrong.

I thought for £20 this game was a real bargain, 4 discs and great graphics also a game that reminded me of the old days playing FF on the PSone. I am actually enjoying the story and to be honest, in an JRPG you know thats where the game is going. Cutscenes and a long complicated storyline.

And Nathan (the reviewer below me) how come one star lol? You gave Wii Chess five out of five!

Customer rating: 1 out of 5 stars very boring, aviod this game

This game is the worst I have played in a long time. The camera angles are terrible; the cut scenes are very long and boring and the game play is just dull. This is a bad game and I recommend you by something else with your money.
