  A hidden gem

First of all let me say this game is brilliant, the combination of old and new styles makes for a really interesting adventure.

The characters are not overly likable or easy to become attached too, even when Kaim learns of his past you don't really care much for him because even then his lack of emotion is evident, I can't decide if this is down to bad voice acting of the character himself.

The battles are turnbased which is a nice change from other RPGS as of late, the combat is fun and complicated at the same time, the battles are random across the maps and are at times rather frustrating.

The storyline is intersting but you aren't suprised by anything, the main antagonist is obvious from the first time you see him, he has a theme song that just screams 'yup, I'm a bad guy', Jansen is probably the best character in the game, torn between multiple sides he's easier to relate too after you get passed his initial flaws.

my main problem with this game is that its so damn depressing, everything from the story to he dreams is about loss during war, its an extreemly tearjerking game, this isn't what I was expecting nor what I wanted so for anyone that is looking for this... you won't be disapointed.

  Brillant game

Fans of Fable 2/3, Overlord and some turn based games will enjoy this game. Good storyline really draws you in; I've had nearly 30 hours worth of game play out of disk 1 and the start of disk 2 so it is quite a long game with 4 disks! I did have to retry one of the boss fights X amount of times before a walkthrough saved my sanity. I've got the hang of it now!

Let me start by saying it's not 10/10, it's 9/10.
Little things tick me off about this game that have appeared in all other turn based games ever made such as the totally "random" monster battles that you cant avoid at all or the way you can't cancel larger casting animation sequences to make the battles pass by quicker.

Other than that though, this game does deliver, I originally bought it just to pass the time while my PC got fixed, but here I am, PC fixed and still playing. There are 4 disks each packed with highly detailed cutscenes, great character convos and, my fave, amazingly well written short stories of the main character Kaim's 1000 year old dreams.

The story of this game is highly immersing and what seems like a couple minutes turn out to be a couple hours once you begin to progress further and further into the extremely well planned storyline, filled with plot-twists and suprises.

I have one problem with the story, but at risk of creating a spoiler I wont say anything and hope you will see it for yourself.

As a final note, the game does allow for side-quests, mini-games and character buffing throughout the game and the levelling system is unique as your mortal characters, who take up half of your party usually, learn new skills by levelling up, while your immortal characters learn skills by learning off other mortal characters or special items.

Fans of the Final Fantasy turn based series will adore this game and will not be disappointed. The opening cut-scene is epic and is closely matched by FMVs in future disks to give the player a sense of being rewarded.

Don't miss this title as a good turn based game is hard to find these days and it's going to be a loooong wait for FFXIII.

  Immerse Yourself

Such epicness, at first when i started playing it i thought it was average at best and i was slightly unsure of the system, due to this being the first time ive properly played a turn-taker RPG. But once you get to the point where you start to collect more characters and more sidequests become open to you this JRPG is unmatched even by Final Fantasy, you could even say that the creators have shot themselves in the foot buy outdoing their own game saga but this is just so good it doesnt even matter. Get it if you want to make the most of your xbox.

This is the best JRPG on the 360. The battle system is great as it is turn based, the way all JRPG's should be. The graphics, cut-scenes and characters are very impressive aswell. The free-roaming is very good along with a large amount of side missions. However it's probably the boss battles that are the best feature of this game, some of the battles are freakin' awesome! I feel like this game is underrated which is very sad, it really is a FANTASTIC game. A real gem for the 360.

This game has to be one of the best RPG games ive ever played. The story line is gripping, the character are awsome, combat is amazing. Even though this game is really long, you wont lose interest. Well worth buying.

An absolute gem of a game! Lost Odyssey offers a lot of quality gameplay and can be rather emotional at sometimes, especially those awesome dream sequences! I've clocked around 45+ hours on this, and I'm not even half way through that's how long it is!! Don't be put off just because it is a turn-based game! Buy it now or you will be missing out :D There are quite a few of laughs in it too involving with a certain womanizer / coward / drunk wizzard!

One of best XBOX 360 games

This quote sums it all. It's labeled so in some online rankings so go check pro reviewers.

The gameplay works pretty exactly as final fantasy games and other turn based combat (only formation options, no movement nor terrain effect during combat) adventures.

The story comprehends 4 dvds so for it's actual price you'll get a reasonably long game, with good graphics and compelling story with lots of drama on it and even a novel to unlock chapter by chapter and accesible thru main game's menu.

The score sounds epic altough repetitive sometimes, as acostumes to happen to those games were you get random monster encounters.

All in all I'll recommend it both to newcomers to the genere (the story will drag you in keeping you interested) and experienced japanese RPG's. After all, take out the horror and put the turn based combat in and you almost get a resident evil style of adventure.

Don't think twice and give this a try, I surprised myself having fun with it even considering the formula dated.

  Great game

I brought this when it was 11.99 - the fact it's only 9 now means this is an absolute bargain!

Gameplay is good, although there are quite a lot of cut scenes. I was always a FF fan and would never look at any other RPG in the same light, but decided to give this a go and was instantly addicted!

The achievements are pretty easy to get, but there's one that you have to do correctly otherwise you won't get it at all during the rest of the game. That screwed me over so I need to play the game all over again!
