  Disappointment, stick to Modern Warfare

| | See all pokerfish's reviews (10)

Well what can I say...

Most people will buy this game for online, stick to Modern Warfare. This is the worst online installment of the series I have played. Bland maps, bland game play, and as a Hardcore player you seem to be punished as only given 4 game modes to play.

The only good thing I've pulled from the online experience is the fact you can now fully customize your class, enabling the chance to have up to 6 perks but with only 10 slots available it makes you think about what to use carefully.

The scorestreak idea is 'OK' but killstreaks make a lot more sense.

The story mode itself is quite a disappointment. Maybe this is why if a team splits up when producing games, the weaker of the 2 should just start a new game instead of using Modern Warfare's model but ruining the brand name.

I must admit I am looking forward to the next installment of Modern Warfare now to restore my faith in the series.

Another year passes and another CoD title gets released, but this year was the first time i was disappointed. After Black Ops being a brilliant game, i found errors with all 3 sections of the game. The campaign is entertaining and the story is written well, but it doesnt flow from the original games story at all, apart from including a few of the same characters. The lack of Reznov playing any major role is annoying. The story gets a bit predictable at times and repetitive, and the Strike Force missions are allbeit it fun, but pointless and do not follow the story at all, but the fundamentals are still there-good quality gameplay and graphics. Multiplayer is as ever action packed and I DO like the new set up of custom classes, having 10 credits to pick item with. This is a great addition and really does mean you can have proper 'custom' classes, along with proper score streaks. However, multiplayer lets itself down by being very inconsistent, with 100s of bullets being necessary to kill anyone and then just a few, and then the totally obscene, annoying hit marking. The maps are too repetitive with no real sniping ones and poor matchmaking, with teams being unfair. By far the biggest let down is Zombies. The 3 individual maps are tiny which means you have to play Tranzit, but this is self-defeating as when you get to a stop, you hardly ever want to get off as there is nothing to do of note in either town and you dont want to risk missing the buss.

Overall, the game is a let down and i hope for more from the next-gen titles.

  Whats with the zombies?

COD has been getting worse since MW2, which to me was the best of all of them, bar maybe COD4. This one was probably the worst since world at war. Terrible graphics, poor game play, Maps are bland, all in all very disappointing. I do like the fact you can play multiplayer against the computer alone or with friends if you get fed up with playing against camping humans! but you have to be signed in for xbox live for this for some reason (even alone). Still anyone who buys COD every year like me will ignore this and buy it anyway! As for zombies, they have put some effort into that, and you can play multiplayer, personally I have no interest in zombies, or I would buy a zombie game.... so I don't see the point in that side of the game, next time put some effort in achieving an amazing game and less side show. for me a game mode where you can have bigger teams would be amazing.

Black Ops 2 It's worse but you'll probably get it anyway

Over the years the Call of Duty brand has been a game that I would buy on the date of it's release but sadly each game has gotten progressively worse. This game is no exception to that rule.

The Campaign:
It gives you little to do and follows the typical shot and boot style with a cinematic affect that the game heavily relies on. Sadly the campaign is worse than ever. After slightly improving over the years it has hit rock bottom again. Although if you're easily distracted by it's cinematic filler and don't actually like doing much you'll probably enjoy it.

Multiplayer:
Easily the worst of the lot. The maps are genuinely terrible. The weapons are equally terrible. Often you will find that the SMG classes are in full session. The customisation is unnecessary and messy although if it is used in the right way you can make some fairly useful classes.

the Zombies:
I would say this was the only reason I really wanted this game, it's similar to the rest of the zombie modes on previous games but they've added a few things. The problem with this mode is if you're serious about getting to the really high levels it takes alot of time and commitment to get everyone set up with the right weapons, turn the power on and get everyone their perks. The only real problem with this mode is that private matches no longer go on the leader board so if you don't have 4 players that you know can play as a team online at the time then you'll have to trust some random player. Which could be a 8 year old for all you know.

YEAH I KNOW YOU BUY YOUR KIDS THIS STUFF.
NOW STOP IT.
Buy them a colouring book.
