Realistic to the point that it's not.

The best thing about this game is that it's realistic. But that is also it's biggest flaw.
You find yourself dead after only one or two shots. You carry around limited supplies and ammunition. Your squad is small and they die. This is how most combat situations are in life and it can be fun at times but is this necessarily what you want in a game.
I'm one for these kind of games (or any FPS) but this takes it too far. You go in all guns blazing, you're dead in seconds. You go in slow and strategic, you will die just slower and without realising it. You find yourself on one of the easiest missions in the world, on the easiest setting and within moments you're stuck. I gave it chance, I changed my tactics. I've done everything apart from use a guide.

All I can really say about this game is it is very flawed and it has to take a VERY special kind of person to play, complete and enjoy it.
I'm not saying don't purchase this, I'm saying good luck to all those that do!

Worst game i have ever had the misfortune of playing.

I don't know what it was but i took an instant dislike to this game. whether it was rolling on the floor shouting medic at someone that wouldn't help me, or the furstrating commands section. trust me steer clear of this game. i have warned you.

  Serious gaming!

This is an amazing game that requires skill accuracy and adaptability, and if you liked the original you will definitely enjoy this.

However, this is not an easy game, nor is it meant to be. You have the freedom to carry out each mission how you want to through the direct control of 3 other squad members and the ability to roam anywhere and utilise any weaponry vehicles or helicopters you come across.

Easy mode gives you the less realistic assists with an enemy radar and a constant objective or way-point marker. Also on easy your squad heals or reappears at each way-point. (what else do you need to make it easy). On hard setting you have no radar or way-points and nobody heals automatically. You must heal them or order them to heal each other.

This game takes a little while to get the hang of but so do all good games. Once you have found how to control your teams fire, stealth and assaulting methods you will be unstoppable and thoroughly enjoy single player mode.

Weapons and equipment are excellent and there is a good variety of different mission styles and objectives. All vehicles can be mounted and controlled. you even get the choice of seating position.

Hint: Read and follow the mission objectives accurately and you will find the missions more interesting and much easier especially where you are instructed to avoid contact.

Most realistic first person shooter to date.

Controls take a while to get used to but after there fine. Campaign is quite hard but still so realistic with great graphics and amazing audio. It only takes about 10 minutes to get used to, 10 minutes not everyone gave it, but once your familiar with it this game is epic and a must buy !

  Great game!

I thought this was one of the best game buys i have ever made. The gameplay is very realistic, which is nice especially if you found modern warfare 2 too unrealistic.

  Alright

this game is visually amazing. the game play is slow, but is quite strategical. good fun to play with friends online to make the squad. otherwise controling the squad is an annoyance in my opinion.

its quite fidely on the controls and takes time to get to grips with. if you run around knifing people on cod 6 with tactical knives, lightwieght, marathon and comando on, this game is NOT for you. (put martydom on that load out ;) as well)

Really enjoyed OFP2 although it certainly aint in the same league as the original on the pc but still very enjoyable. I know that this hasnt been given the best reviews via the media but i believe that that is down to people not playing this game as it is meant to be played. Forget COD tactics as they will just get you and your team killed, this game is designed as a combat simulation requiring tactics and patience. I here people whining about the targeting, Its a combat simulator not COD if you have someone in your crosshairs on COD then its a guaranteed headshot Flashpoint however takes bullet drop, windage into consideration therefore you must shoot above the target depending on the distance of course. Not one for COD generation but if you wanna more realistic experience then look no further. Co op mode can be played with 3 other players and is proberly the best thing about the game, you can play through the whole campaign with your pals and their are also some single missions to play through as well. Mos def worth 25 nicker. Think that this one is for the older gamer like myself not one for the campers on COD. It is possible on this game to die from a single bullet. My only major gripe with this is the Hardcore mode, I understand that removing the visual aids make it harder but by removing the compass it totally removes any chance of playing tactically as when im playing with my pals i am unable to give any real direction as you have know idea which way u are facing so therefore u cant say for example "Attack the target to the east" as you dont know and just have to say left, right which as you know in a firefight just aint good enough as the chances are that we are all engaging enemies and prob aint all facing the same way. Sorry this review werent meant too be this long.

Please dont judge this game on your first try, when i first played I didnt like it at all, the commands were very difficult to master, and trying to shoot someone at a distance was really difficult, but this is the point this game is trying to be realistic. After practicing for a few days the game really game to life and i can honestly say this is one of the best games i have ever played, especially playing on coop with your friends. multiplayer is also very good , dont be put off by 4 v 4 online each player has a 4 man ai fire team to command and when everyone knows what they are doing you can have some epic battles with helos jeeps and tanks.
Dont listen to all the negative reviews on here just shows how many COD fanboys there are 5/5

I got OF2:DR for Christmas along with games and on Boxing Day tested it out. After having been playing COD6 for the last month couple of months i found the controls horrible and was caught off guard by the open world and completing the tutorial I stopped playing and went back to my other games. I only tried it again the other day and found... ITS AMAZING. Honestly. Put Far Cry 2 and COD together and you have a basic understanding of enjoyment you can get from playing this game. You can't compare it to COD or anyother FPS because its not so much an FPS as Strategy game (however this varies and their are lots of big firefights).
In a sentence (that I stole from the back of the box): As Close To War As You Ever Want To Get
