Ok I admit I never played gears of war 2 till recently and that reason was because the 1st one was not a good game in my eyes but I find the 2nd is more enjoyable and they got rid of berserkers so the game producers have saw sense so my advice is get it if you like shooters or not its a worth while experience and a pretty interesting game my score 9/10

  Where were the Beserkers?

Come on now, you threw three of them at us with GoW1, now there aren't any on GoW2? You can't make up for it with a Lambent Brumack!

Still, the only thing missing from this awesome game was Beserkers, and considering how hard they are to kill this may have been an actual blessing!

Gears of War 2, any better?

| | See all wweUKfan's reviews (4)

As I enjoyed the first Gears of War game, I was not disappointed with Gears of War 2's story. Dom's AI was much better, making the game much more fun to play. Horde Mode was a nice new feature I really enjoyed, as it allowed me to play with a few of my mates to survive wave after wave of enemies. This game's only downfall though, the multiplayer. I enjoyed what I could of it, but it wasn't as good as the first Gears of War multiplayer. So many bugging problems made it very annoying to play. So, once again, it gets a 4/5 for me. Great story again, multiplayer bugging need to be worked on though. Was it any better though? Story wise, yes. Multiplayer wise, no.

  Adrenaline Fuelled Shooter

Two years after the original Gears of War Marcus Fenix and his oversized compatriots return to once again take on the Locust horde. Rarely straying far from its predecessor's template everything in this sequel is bigger and louder than before from the explosive set-pieces to the magnitude of the foes. Level design is also improved with every area providing just enough cover to be able to advance on the enemy whilst getting caught out in the open remains a sure way to get yourself quickly killed. Co-op mode is again available and, as is often the case, the game is better when played with a friend either over Xbox Live or via split screen.

On a negative note the games narrative is again slightly formulaic and those that disliked the, admittedly rather one note gameplay, of first game will find little to change their minds. Those that are simply after an adrenaline fuelled shooter however will not be disappointed.

  how good is this game?

gears of war 2 is a great game it has good graphics for its time and has many different play modes eg: horde, it is great to play using xbox live and have fun with friends. however if you do not have xbox live you can still have fun by playing with bots in any game mode so to make, you non xbox live players happy, the story mode is good and fun yet at some points can be a bit slow. have fun :)

  Fantastic game!

At first i thought Gears of War was an overrated and over hyped game, that was until i got into the campaign mode. The story in Gears of War isn't entirely original but after a couple of hours of play i was addicted and loosing precious sleep hours! After finally completing the campaign i looked at the multiplayer.

Its hard to find games today which are split screen, most just tend to stick to the online multiplayer. But Gears of War offers a lot of co-operative and competitive fun with many different modes to play with friends, online AND split screen.

To sum up, for 15 you really can't go wrong with Gears of War, it will have you playing for hours on end. An absolute must have for any Xbox 360 owner

  Best game on xbox?

The campaign is pure class. Keeps you hooked on every level. Horde mode is brilliant also. As for the people who say the online is terrible, theyre obviously not any good at it. That is one thing i ADORE about this game is that it is almost entirely based on skill when online. Not your connection speed like on COD. this game is awesome and i strongly recommend this to anyone thinking about buying it.

  Brilliant single player

Single player is amazing, good story and good full on fighting/action.

Multiplayer

Player Vs Player probably one of the worse PVP games out there,

Horder mode is brilliant but addictive

another big flaw is if you want to just play for 10 - 20min then thats out of the question as you have to play what seems forever.

Don't buy this game if you just want to play PvP its an awful experience.

Single player + Horde are brilliant though.
