I really, really wanted to enjoy this game. There are things in it that are quite good, I liked the look of the game even though it has not been changed much from the original PSP version., I liked the career mode. I liked the roster. I liked the way there is a decreasing circle round the ball as you go to serve . Unfortunately the game-play lets it down. It's unresponsive, it's sluggish and the game seems incapable of allowing any power in the shots. The shots available slice, lob, flat and topspin have no degree of accuracy when you hit the ball. The only way to win a match is if you rush the net and volley. I played a couple of exhibition matches and wondered if I was hitting the ball wrong. I did the 22 shot tutorial and that did not improve the game play at all. The matches were like Sunday Morning driving, very relaxed, no speed etc. With the Top Spin games and Virtua Tennis series already well established, Smash Court's game play lets it down so badly that it is not in the same league as the other tennis games. It is a shame, because if it had a more responsive control system it would have been a rather good game. I persevered with it for a just over a week but eventually regretted buying it. If you have not yet bought Top Spin 2, or 3 or Virtua Tennis 3, I would recommend buying these and avoiding Smash Court. =)
for the price its gud 1st i didnt lik it then played it for a day or two and its a decent game but no ones online - i say virtua tennis 3 is best as nu vt isnt better then vt3
Promised so much but delivered so little. this game could of been a lot lot better and is not as good as Virtua tennis or top spin which are good tennis games. This game lets it self down by the gameplay which doesn't seem to click as well as the other two but no matter the price i would pick Virtua tennis or top spin over smash court tennis.
I bought this game for a fiver, and still feel it was a complete waste. Poor controls hinder the gameplay, and the graphics resemble a PlayStation 2 game. The last in the series was better than this, and that was released on a last-gen console over 5 years ago. Don't waste your time with this, I haven't touched it since I first played it on the day I got it.
I wish i had listened to the reviews before purchasing this. Imagine a game with all the fun extracted and injected with tedium in its place. The controls are rubbish, i am sure whoever wrote this game should be locked up, 8 bit spectrum games were more fun and realistic. Bearing in mind i only paid £5 for this game, i still feel like i was robbed. I also own top spin 2, a far superior game, i know which one i will be playing in future. In short not only the worst sport game i have played, but also one of the worst games i have ever played, period.
