Final Fantasy XI Online: 2008 Edition is a stunning assortment that includes the original Final Fantasy XI game, plus four expansion packs: Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan and Wings of the Goddess.
Start with Final Fantasy XI, where you will be able to assume the role of a variety of unique characters. Customise your character's appearance and decide which abilities you find most important. Then develop your in-game persona to become more effective in battle. In the four expansion packs you will encounter new personalities, take on new jobs and explore new areas. As you continue to master weapons, skills and magics, you will become a bigger part of this amazing world.
In Chains of Promathia, learn more about the fabled God of Twilight as well as the Emptiness, a sinister force that is gnawing away at the world.
In Rise of the Zilart, assume the role of Samurai, Ninja or Dragoon and trek through 40 new areas.
In Treasures of Aht Urhgan, test your skill as a Blue Mage, Corsair or Puppetmaster, and embark on new missions that will reveal the secrets of this mysterious land.
Wings of the Goddess introduces the new Dancer and Scholar character jobs, and takes you to Vana'diel's rewritten history, where you will participate in three intense campaigns!

One of the best FF titles so far.

Though severely lacking in the customisation department - particularly for an MMO - it is nevertheless a compelling game. I've probably logged more hours on this than any other game so far, but that is largely due to the nature of the game. Worth a try if you're looking for an MMO, but you can say goodbye to your social life. The heavy dependence upon other players, who are largely pubescent morons, is the most frustrating aspect of the game.
Worth the effort

It's true that this game does require a bit of time to play properly, especially when you're just getting started. It is definitely worth the effort though. Absolutely massive game, hundreds of missions and quests and loads of other things to do. Most of the game revolves around getting other players to help you which is a bit of a problem some of the time but you can do enough by yourself to keep you busy. There are bits of the game that require more commitment but you don't have to get involved in these things, there's enough to keep you going. I've been playing for two and a half years.
Only three words to describe this...... BEST GAME EVER!!!

The best game I have ever played. I dont play this game for hours on end and dont forget the real life. I just play this from time to time (mainly weekends) and have played this game for about 4 years now, and its still awsome. Deserves 5 stars.
