Call Of Duty: World At War

On a technical level World at War is arguably the least accomplished of the Call of Duty titles and, yet another return, to World War II setting certainly meant the single player campaign could be a bit of a chore to play through. Since the now overused online multiplayer formula was still fairly fresh at the time however it was still very easy to lose days, even weeks, competing on Xbox live. As a result World at War was still a worthy purchase at the time even if it has now been truly overshadowed by better entries in the series.

The solo campaign is a bit short. Like all the COD games, but also the missions are good, varied, fun and have really good atmosphere and graphics. I like the WW2 take on it, particularly in the multiplayer. The levels are pretty good on multiplayer too and a good choice of perks and weaponry. It is a bit annoying being spawned infront of someone's gun or shooting someone first, but they kill you. I haven't done the zombies levels yet, and although I prefer Spec Ops I'm sure it's cool too like on Black Ops.

Loved the campaign on this game, really enjoyed it. I liked how you switch between fighting with the marines in Japan, to fighting the Germans in Berlin as the russians. The missions are fun with lots of variation - with some vehicle missions. I also like the co-operative campaign option, and the competitive mode!

Zombies is fun for parties of friends to play. Can lead to hours of fun.

The multiplayer was dissapointing however. The MP40 and Juggernaut ruin the online becuase they are both overpowered.

Good game!

Picked this up quite cheap just to play through the campaign as i was impressed with all the other Call of Duty's stories. However, this one is very boring and as its based on history they can't really add much that we haven't seen before. Treyarch do a good job with the environments and the graphics are amazing so expect to be sucked in on the levels that are actually good. Huge problems make this a below average single player game though. When playing on veteran you WILL be spammed to hell with grenades. This is a problem when there are 10 enemies on screen each throwing 2 grenades each one after another. Its hard to find time to shoot when you're busy throwing bombs around. Theres not enough time to throw more then two back before they explode so running to another cover spot is your best option. Rushing out in the open is very risky though as 3 bullets will kill you on the harder difficulty. There are very limited cover points too and you'll find your team mates will already be at most of them blocking you off. The amount of grenades is insane and one going off anywhere near you results in death. The only positive I have from all the grenade spamming is that cover works well to block the shrapnel. If you are behind a wall there will never be a dodgy moment where you still get injured from it. There is probably fun to be had in the online mode but if you plan on playing the story on the harder difficulties it's really not worth it. I really can't stress how many grenades get thrown at you constantly. It does feel more like dodge ball.

The online for this game is absolutely terrible but the campaign's levels are quite thought out and well done. Overall a 4/10 game.

this game is different from the other world war 2 games. its a better and different take then fighting nazis all the time as this game is set in the pacific against the japanese.
the graphics could have been better, the ai isn't too good. the weapons are varied and great and the game also features an element of gore.
the campaigns itself is good and places you in different situations- sniping a nazi general, defending ships in pearl harbour in your plane, attacking a nazi stronghold, a tank battle or roasting enemies with flame throwers in the trenches.
nazi zombies is the best thing about this game, although it only includes one map, more is available online.
online is good but a bit dull at times.

I don't usually go for FPS games as they can be quite challenging however I thought I would try COD WAW to see what the fuss was about. Anyway the game jumps straight into the action and after 20 minutes of playing the game I was taken aback by how addictive this game is. This game is beginner friendly and each mission offers new and challenging tasks for you to complete.I would recommend this game to absolulutely anyone. However this game is quite short and I wish it was longer as this was one of the only flaws with this game.

Call of Duty 5 ahh. The campain is actually ok, with how you can work with different people such as the russians, the americans or the british. The online play however is not good, it let me down with how unreal it is. Once someone with Matrydrome as his perk, i shoot him so he dropped his live grenade and it killed me and i ran away and was about 10 -15 metres away from it. The maps are ok, some good, some bad. But i mean Dome that is to small eveyone will throw grenades from spawn! The thing that lights this game up is Nazi Zombies, Zombies is brilliant with the good idea about the Random gun Box. Der Reise is the best map, but i mean after Your bored of Zombies which gets boring very easily. You dont want to go online because you know how bad it is! Some of the guns are terrible such as Type 100, and Bolt action Rifles. In real life a Bolt action Rifle from those days would of blown you in one shot. On this an Arisaka Rifle takes about 3 damn shots to kill, its rubbish. I do like how you are the Russians fighting on German territory, and all of a sudden your in Japanese territory as the Americans on multiplayer. I only really play this game when im in a bad mode, and i want to mess about. And also that damn M Carbine which everyone mods thats perthetic! With a MP40 Being more powerful than a PTRS-41, I dont think so! And all of the abuse everyone shouts down there headset! Overall a bad game, but ok in places.

Goood multpilayer and campaign. The guns are more realistic, you have to have skill. Nazi zombies is the best bit about this game
