Loads of bugs and extremely poor voice acting

| | See all Digitize's reviews (3)

This game was released in the fall (2010) in selected countries only. Why it has been scheduled for a later release in the US and UK beats me. But it might have something to do with "testing the response" from only a few selected countries.
Anyways, having just completed the game (X360) I can only say that this game is riddled with bugs and the voice acting is probably the worst I have heard so far in any game. It sounds as if the actor who plays the hero (=you), wished he was doing something else entirely. His voice acting should be muted, it only ruins the game - it is bad, really bad (I am betting the janitor in the building where the game studio is had an "interesting" voice and the devs hired him to be our hero in the game).

And the bugs are a whole nother story. There are bugs and glitches everywhere. I don't even know where to start with the bugs so I'll just skip it. But let me just say that it has been severel months since the game was released in selected countries, and still there are no serious patches to address the massive list of bugs. The hero also moves in the most awkward fashion, with or without his horse. But that is probably not a bug, just game design.

The game itself is big and complex but it "borrows" so many familliar names of locations, enemies and stuff that it borders plagiarism. The graphics are actually quite good, but the game lags alot from time to time (installing it to the hard drive did not help, again it is probably related to poor coding).

The developers wanted to make the next saga in the Elder Scrolls universe and make a few quick bucks. But seriously, save your money and buy Skyrim when it is out instead, TW2 will only frustrate you if you expect quality. Wait a month after it's out and pick it up for 2.99 sterling or play through Oblivion for the 10th time instead. I am a huge RPG fan, be it Zelda or the Elder Scrolls - but I was hugely disappointed with TW2 (as with TW1 as well).

Just my 2 cents.

Sometimes the best open world games are not all that polished, but entice you into exploring their world because it's full of interest. TW2 is a little rough around the edges. But it also provides a large environment genuinely worth exploring, because it is full of secret locations, varyingly difficult enemies and clever well-scripted quests.

Little things add to the experience. For example the individually designed armour pieces. The intererior dungeon maps. Character look and gender customisation. A general sense of cynical rather than whimsical attitude from the characters.

Some will be turned off because the cut scenes are a bit ropey and the graphics are not ground-breaking. But some of you will lap up a good solid free-roamer which lets you do what you want most of the time, and create a good experience with it. You know whether that's you or not.

 Fair RPG

yes this game does have a few bugs but compared to the last RPG I played {Alpha Protocol} this is a brilliant game. Massive world, loads of decent RPG levelling up, something to keep you busy whilst you wait for the next big titles to be released. I think Digitize is being slightly unfair in his review but we're all allowed our opinions.

Top 100 Games Reviewer

Two worlds two, well first thing is first its nothing to do with the first game, It may share names of places but this is a hugely different game and apart from the name has no real association with its predecessor. The story its self is interesting but does seem to give way to letting you go off and do things your self quite a lot really restricting the linearity however this game really makes up for that with incredible graphics, an innovative combat system and an almost infinite ability to mix elements together and create unending permutations of your own spells and potions, you can mix all sorts together and cast the spell and suddenly your walking down a trail with a swarm of bees, a terror cotta army and a troll protecting you, well that is when you have levelled up that far. To say this game is in depth would be a huge understatement, you can mine elements then create and forge a weapon, then go and create a spell and enchant your weapon and cast crazy unique spells you made as you fight an enemy with the weapon and armour you made your self and then go and take a ride on a boat across the sea to a random island. This Is just scratching at the surface of this game, where this game really shines is the ability to play online co-op which is more like a free MMO RPG experience more than anything. which includes the games equivalent to horde mode or arena mode, you can also fully customise your character, his or her home! And your own working online village! That other players can visit and buy and sell with your traders helping the village economy. This game is a gem, its nothing like the first two worlds at all and if I had to sum it up I would say it is a cross between ARCANIA, Skyrim, risen and dragon age 1, but with more detail beauty and whit than all of them and a multiplayer reminiscent of phantasy star universes MMO RPG online. In conclusion This is apart from being really rare as they only printed one batch, this is one of the best RPGs ever made for this generation of console and if you enjoyed ARCANIA or RISEN this will make you giddy to play within minutes.
