In my personal opinion this game reminds me of the larrys of old. They have chosen to go the route without nudity but as you know larry games have always been a tease of sorts and never really sold for nudity just more the humour and crudeness of the script, Gameplay is excellent for what it is using the unreal engine and there is plenty of fun mingames and tasks to perfom with some rather good animation on the cutscenes and some bits did have me actually laughing out loud. For the price tag of this game and how good it is I would def recommend it to larry fans or just someone looking for a casual but very fun game!
If you are thinking of buying this game as you loved the old Larry then think twice about it. This game is nothing like the old Larry.
As previously mentioned by most reviews here, if you do buy it the most swearing you hear will be from yourself as the camera angles change and pan around on you without any warning. What would be a simple task suddenly becomes a chore.
There are little bits of humour in this to keep you interested for about 10 minutes but after that find another game.
Hopefully they will try again with Larry and give us the old Larry.
Ok so this Leisure suit larry is a lot different from the older ones. With this game you'll be finding yourself wall jumping, driving and shooting (not the best combination for the Larry game).
With all these new different features you'll soon be wondering what the point of it all is; if the camera angles don't annoy you you'll find the shooting/reloading does.
The game starts off really simple and then you're left to fend for yourself and fathom things out. The wild west dreamcast mission is the worst mission you could ever want to possibly do.
I gave this game a 2 star because of gameplay.
Having played on some of the previous ones, who could ever forget the first one, involving the condom in the shop. however the graphics and gameplay have moved on, since then, i would agree with some of the other comments from other reviewers.
it does have humour and swearing in but, that's about it, not a great deal for you to stick with it, unless you have a swear box handy, every time a jump does wrong or you got to do a level again for the 8th time.
here is some of the problems i found upon playing the game.
I found several bug/glitches when playing game. I found on the roof level segments there was a space you could see through, where i had not been lapped properly, the camera angles when trying to jump are annoying, leaving you to think you going to make it but end up missing the jump due to the angle shifting.
if you are in a buggy you can get it stuck on the corner edge of the building or set, once toppled on front you can' get out.
it automaticly saves, so you cant save there and then, to re- do level
when jumping, he tends to go the opposite direction you want, also, when you jump, he seems to grap hold of an invisible ledge, when the actual ledge is above him. apart from these, what should have been a potential good game has now become some what mediocre, and avarage, shame. best as a rental, than buying it full price, if you are a fan of the series wait till it's cheap to buy first!
Ive played a few other LSL games and this has to be the worst one. The platforming sections are horrible, the camera is a nightmare. The minigames are plain tedious and the humour is just plain unfunny. I was dissapointed as i liked the other LSL games ok so they were just a bit of fun much in the way american pie films are but this new one just lacks all the carm of the others and doesnt have any gameplay to back it up. The making the movie sections are a nice touch but it cant save this game. The jokes are very laboured and forced which harms the game. This game is cheap for a good reason. If you like past LSL games prepare to be dissapointed, and if you havent and are just after a cheap fun game then look somewhere else.
