Shellshock 2: Blood Trails

Having played this game early I can honestly say that this game definately beats it's earlier entry Shellshock Nam 67. The first impressions of this game are good. Firstly it is now in 1st person and the graphics are obviously updated (now being on next-gen hi-definition). This is largely due to having a new developer. Also, the genre has changed from 3rd person action to 1st person psychological horror, hence the name Shellshock.

The opening cinema see's you walking out of the jungle after attempting to recover a viral weapon dropped into the heart of the vietnam jungle. You and 5 others were sent in to find it but only return alive.

The game then sets it's scene for the remainder of the game. You are a veteran war hero and now a deadly virus has plagued your unit and has made them all critically ill with some sort of strange RAGE. This rage makes them violent and paranoid, thus attacking you and trying to kill you on sight.

Having finished the game also and not wanting to give away to much of the plot (or spoiling it for you) the reason you are not infected has something to do with you being immune to the virus.

The game features 12 levels each lasting about 20- 45 mins long. A totla of 49 achievements for the XBOX 360 and PS3. For more casual gamers or gamers that are to keen on 1st person shooters it may take a little longer for you to complete. Altogether the game is a fairly average 10 hour life span which nowdays is quite average for your standard release.

Shellshock has XBOX live compatiblility but obviously playing it early there has been no point in me playing it or seeing what there is to offer. The game offers quite a variety of different weapons but no vehicles and the genre change and perspective change has done the game good.

Shellshock 2: Blood Trails is a game for anyone who has or has not played the first one since the storylines do not tie in together. This game is perfect for anyone is a fan of the horror genre or the first person genere and or is looking for a change.

What a waste of time and money. The whole game takes you back to the old xbox or ps2. Yes its new but the visuals are most certainly last gen. The only reason i completed this was for the gamerpoints which is easy even on the hardest difficulty. No multiplayer in todays market that is almost unforgivable especially with a fps.
There are to many other good fps titles out there.
I will say to all the gamerpoint collectors though its worth a rent i got 970 in one night and the only reason its not 1000 is because i would have to play through it one more time.

Hi people, i just thought i would review this game. I just completed this game on normal difficulty, i gave this game 3 stars because it has its good points and bad points, good points: 10 Missions which isnt bad for a less major game each mission will last between 20 and 40 mins, depends if you just rush through it or take your time, this game is a creepy game - in the heart of the vietnam jungle, you also go into temples, schools, mansions etc so theres variation to the places you go.

The enemies will sometimes just come out of nowhere so it makes you jump which i really like, in some parts its essential that you use your flashlight cos its dark. The graphics are ok, 7 outta 10 for me, the sounds, music are decent enough as well so 7 outta 10 for me again, lifespan i also gave a 7 cos you can get achievements for completing it on different difficulties, various gun achievements etc.

The problems with this game was the ai wasnt the best cos the odd time if you shoot an enemy in the leg it has no effect and sometimes will hide behind explosive barrels lol but the enemy is plentful so you wont have to worry about being able to cap some in the head lol. Someparts of the game will test you if your doing the game on normal or hard difficulty and will require you to be accurate with your weapon.

I have been playing SS2 (360 Pal version)for the past few days and have to report it is terrible in almost every way.
The graphics are very original xbox, so while not being terrible they fall way bellow most 360 and Cod games. The soundtrack again is just serviceable at best, with the score soaring and dipping throughout the game.
The real problem is the gameplay, since the first SS (which I thought was great)we have switched from 3rd to 1st person and with it have the loathed Quick Time Events, these really have no place in games and certainly not in 1st person ones, where you/your character is already immersed enough into the gameworld. You move very slowly, you can run via lb. The weapons switch is so slow as to frustrate and you get snagged on the game engine a fair bit.
The game is split over 10 levels, (another review states 12 levels, I'm 99% it was only 10, but it is either 10-12!) each taking anyway from 20-40 mins to get through and is a fairly straight forward corridor shooter albeit set in Nam and with a horror edge, I will give praise for some tense moments, especially during a mission in a mansion, but these are few and far between.
The game does seem to throw some easy achievements at you (always good!) although I will not be getting the "played twice" or "complete the game on the hardest setting", I did so on normal, I got 150 points for that.
To summerise, a really poor effort and great shame as the 1st game to use this name/brand was really rather good.

Only a few words for this game ,dark,, movement jerky,, back in the 1980s,, i love war games but this is a load of rubbish,,,
