EA pulled the server because not many people are playing online. its pretty much a multiplayer game.

Pretty decent game, heavy focused on the multiplayer part. Just swap medium range weapons for swords (adds combos to the usual capture the flag class oriented multiplayer games ) and bows for sniper rifles. Throw in assasins and warlocks (counterpart of medic class in oter games) and you got it. The light vehicle part are just horses and such since the heavy ones (tanks anyone?) are trolls and the bigger stuff you can find in tolkien's stories.
Playing it 3rd person (ala star wars battlefront) and the melee component made a nice twist to the classic battlefield style multiplayer games. You can even control unique characters like Gandalf itself to turn the the situation to your side

You can get about 500+ gamerscore alone with the campaing involving you with the good and the evil forced alike and manages to feel epic if you like warhammer, dragonlance and such fantasy universes.
Graphics aren't the best arround, must admit, but serve well he gameplay. You get different class models depending the area you are figting, so you won't see the same swordman at the forest that in the mines, etc.

The camera is good but sometimes it's a pain to rotate so you can face one of the many enemies the game throws at you.

Lately I can't findas many online playes active as I would like to being usual a 3 on 3 or 3 on 2 and 9 players at the same time an oddity but still possible. At least I know some people getting this one soon so it fortunatedly will change soon.

For its actual price it's a good game with nice campaign and strong team based multiplayer. I reccomend to give it a try and remember that there is a demo @ XBL marketplace.

  Not bad but not good

This game could have been a lot better and i can see why people wouldn't like it but it can be a good game if you don't pay to much attention to it. It's an easy going game which can be completed very quickly and is worth paying under a tenner for if you can find it for that price.

  Satisfying

Some reviews of customers give this game a poor review of what it actually deserves. The story line is spot on, the characters look exactly like out of the film (however there voices arent spot on the same as those from the film) and its reasonably good graphics. The controls are smooth but it does get annoying keep having to spin the camera around to where you want to face when in large combat and your busy trying fight. The campaign has about 9 levels of playing the good side, and a separate 9 for evil side. Online play is fun too. I enjoy the game

  Worst Game Ever!

After seeing this game (and subsiquentially buying it) I became quite excited at the prospect of a LOTR-esque Battlefront, after returning home and eagerly awaitning my first mission to commence I realsied this game was awful.
Firstly; Graphically it was not great, which asothers have stated can be forgiven if the gameplay is good, een if it does make your eyes bleed after 10 minutes of playing.
Secondly; I was very very disappointed with the gameplay, one of the worst games i've ever played
Third; Even after presenting a receipt I could not return it, apparently "Worst Game in the World" is not a valid reason for me to get my hard-earned cash back.

  Why Pandemic??!??

| | See all Vyper2008's reviews (2)

This game should have been amazing, but pandemic turned the great battlefront series into this pile of trash. Here is a list of things that are wrong with it:
1) Half the missions don't have anything to do with the films and the ones that do are changed horribly.
2) The voices are terrible.
3) Some of the classes are terribly over powered-ie mage can heal itself, block arrows, spam enemies with unblockable magic, ect.
4)Do we all remember when the warriors of gondor and rohan pulled out there fire swords to smite there orc foes?? NO we don't, but in the game you do.
Terrible game, the only reason why i gave it a 2 star raing was because it is slightly entertaining for the first few hours.
one word of advice,
DO NOT BUY!

  Not the best.

It's pretty much one of the mid-ranged LoTR games. It doesn't take too long to do the first campaign of saving middle earth, and the evil campaign you'll find much more fun (especially on Legendary mode). It gets a little annoying a times when you get trapped between two warriors and a scout. I'd say this is probably better to rent than to buy, but it does have an tasty multiplayer mode which can be worth hanging on to it for. Although, out of two discs I had the third player on, multiplayer managed to break twice. The first time was apparently an manafactures fault on the disc. I'd watch out for this when playing.
