The year is 2013. The U.S. Army has been developing - and can now deploy - the Integrated Warfighter System (IWS), a complex combination of cutting-edge technologies that transforms an individual soldier into the ultimate fighting force. IWS combines advanced weapons systems, satellite communication devices and enhanced survivability into one fully integrated combat system that is finally ready for the true test of the battlefield.

Combining the advantages of next-generation console technology with future military technologies, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter includes a wealth of groundbreaking features, including the Cross-Com, a communication device attached to the soldier's monocle and powered by satellite technology, which will deliver constant and complete battlefield awareness seamlessly within the action. In addition, Ubisoft will employ increased processing power to its fullest, with breathtaking graphics, lighting and textures, multi-windowing, and state-of-the-art physics. Current-generation versions of the game will be custom-built using top technologies that push each platform to its limits.

In Advanced Warfighter, players will embody Captain Scott Mitchell as he commands the Ghosts and Special Forces allies equipped with the IWS in the quest to save the president of the United States, recover stolen nuclear codes and eliminate a vicious band of renegade soldiers hell-bent on unleashing catastrophe. The game unfolds entirely in Mexico City, where numerous, meticulously researched and detailed environments will deliver complete immersion into the future of urban warfare. Advanced Warfighter will also include multiplayer and cooperative gameplay with exciting new elements, continuing the Ghost Recon tradition of setting the bar for multiplayer action.

This game in my opinion is top class, its as simple as that! Now, for the record, let me state that I've not played it "online" as this type of gaming does not float my boat. I have played it through to conclusion and loved every frustrating minute of it. It's quite a long game that will have you playing for many a day, and to be fair, it can be quite difficult to get to grips with. I came from playing Rainbow Six: Las Vegas, to this, and struggled to come to terms with the controller set up, but once mastered, it became second nature.

Let me put a few demons to bed and start by saying, read the other reviewers' comments of this game with a pinch of salt, please bear in mind that this game is dated compared to COD4, Halo 3 and other graphically rich games that are currently available. The plus points of GRAW are the story line, realistic sense of surrounding game play and it will keep you entertained for a long time, especially considering its less then £10 (delivered). I will not spoil the story by explaining all here and now, but considering it's age, some of the latest game developers could learn something from GRAW.

GRAW for me is a game I'll go back to time and time again, not because its easy, but because it's fun and I can play it! The game style sucks you in and the story line keeps you going, the FMV sequences make you smile and to be honest its just a very good game.

My advice would be to buy this game BEFORE buying GRAW2, as GRAW 2 is on a completely different level. You will have all the skills you'll need to complete GRAW2 if you play GRAW beforehand, trust me I know!

Take a look at PEPIN86's review for more information on the game play, this guy I believe is the only person to give the game a genuine review. To be honest, I just cannot understand why, most reviewers have slated this game, it's a gem and a steal at £10.

 Next time around...

I bought this game *after* G.R.A.W 2. I know, that's a little strange, but I got 2 cheap 2nd hand and just thought I'd give it ago. I loved 2, so I thought I might as well get 1 and go.
GRAPHICS: While not as good as graphically as G.R.A.W 2, the graphics are not to be underestimated. Your more likely to go through the game thinking "Oohh, this is good" and then when you play 2 you'll be thinking "Wow" so it's not bad, just not as good as they've made the new one. So I can't really fault it here.
STORY: Excellent story. It's deep, but not too complicated, and doesn't feel like it's a film and dragging on, it's simply enjoyable. Has a few twists and it's all good fun.
COMBAT: The fighting is very good. It's 3rd person, and because your health system is not regeneration based., you need to run from cover to cover, through streets and large open areas. Though there isn't any real close quarters in-building fighting in the game. Like I said about the 2nd game, it's intense, and absorbing. Just as good as the 2nd one. Only slightly annoying thing is you can't view through your squadmates shoulder-cam like in 2.
PLAYABILITY: Has a good single player that's long enough to take a while, but not too long you get bored. On 'Hard' it's insane until you get used to it. I managed to do it on hard in about the same length as I did on normal (because I'd already been through the game). Multiplayer is good, online is good too, can't really fault it, though it does take a long time to get into a game. Though in my opinion, it really could do with a campaign co-op, as could the second one. The designers have made several completely new levels for co-op multiplayer, and they just don't feel as good as the real levels.
OVERALL: If you like this sort of thing then deffinatly get it. It's got good graphics, great story and playability, brilliant levels, and an ark full of different weapons. Enemy A.I is pretty good and some fights can really get intense and drag you in. For full appreciation, I'd do this before G.R.A.W 2. The only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the introduction of G.R.A.W 2, Rainbow 6, and Call of Duty 4, all of which are better than this game, but this game is still an excellent addition to any gamer's library.

 Hmmm where to start....

Ok I think this is a love or hate game.
If like me you like FPS' and action games this is not for you. Dont get me wrong I gave it a try thou spent some hours on it, and just ended up getting frustrated.
The A.I of your troops is terrible! (must've died 20 times tryin to revive one of the daft sods for standin there an gettin shot).
You carnt really get in cover unless youre behind a wall, which isnt always there, so you tend to die a lot.
I'm sure there are ppl out there which would if they saw me in the street for this review would want to beat me up, as clancy fans will love this game.
But to be honest I'm not.
If you like say C.O.D, DMC, Ninja gaiden, or even mercs give this a wide berth.
If you are an soldier in the making an think you got what it takes go for it my son cus i think this is pretty close to the training ur gunna get!

 Superb Tactial Shooter

Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is a marmite game. If your over a certain age (lets say 25) your much more inclined to love this game and become addicted. There is plenty of variation in game play and different objectives to keep each mission exciting. Theres also the odd fly by shooting from the helicopter guns which is great fun. I feel some younger players may prefer Rainbow or COD which are a little more gun ho and point and shoot. Whereas Graw offers something else. Strategory and forward thinking. If you go in all guns blazing, you will die. Just like real life. You must be careful and maintain an element of stealth. Also be sure to choose your weapons and team mates carefully as they can greatly effect the outcome of the mission. Weapons with long range scopes are particular useful, as are anti-personel grenade lanchers. The early missions of this game are the best and have had the most time spent on them. Some of the later feel like the graphics have been copied and pasted with the same old enemies. Perhaps that's a little harsh. The shelf life of this game is enormous. Once you have completed single player, you can play again on hard mode for a greater challenge. Multiplay offers a whole new world of possibilities and includes capture the flag and co-op campaign missions. It's a shame the ranked games never seen to work, as online foes are like Gods. Expect them to lie in wait and kill you before you've had time to breath. All in all this game will keep you busy for weeks on end and is well worth buying. I'm off to conquear Graw 2 now. Watch for the review !

£4.99 is a bargain for this game. Well recommended if you're just getting into next gen gaming. If you've been an Xbox owner for a while then I wouldn't bother as there are games that do this kind of gameplay better now. The online game is strange (it was made by a different company) as you can't take cover in it so it's very different from the campaign.
