Condemned allows players to experience a heightened level of psychological tension as they use their instincts, forensic tools, and melee/firearms combat to track serial killers and bring them to justice. Gamers will play as Agent Thomas, an investigator in the FBI's Serial Crimes Unit (SCU), whose pursuit of relentless serial killers leads him through urban environments filled with sociopaths lurking on the periphery of humanity.

Presented in a first-person view for maximum visceral effect, this atmospheric thriller is best played with the surround-sound up and the lights off. Given the power of nextgeneration hardware, Condemned features photo-realistic backdrops, life-like physics, and highly sophisticated artificial intelligence. Weapons and ammunition are scarce, leaving the player vulnerable to a gallery of mentally deranged criminals. Careful detective work and precision reflexes are a player's primary means of survival. Inspired in part by the films of the psychological thriller sub-genre, Condemned maintains an intense, focused pace. Players can never be sure what waits around each corner.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.
  • Next-generation lighting, mapping, and filtering techniques provide for environments of unprecedented detail and visual quality.
  • Intelligent enemies respond strategically to your offensive and defensive maneuvers.
  • High-level physics allow players to manipulate background items, which respond realistically when picked up, kicked, or bumped.
  • A tightly wound story is backed with strong character development and major plot twists.
  • Meticulously crafted 5.1 surround-sound will cue players to the location of offscreen enemies.

Top 100 Music Reviewer

I can say with confidence that Condemned is truly one of the scariest games I've ever played and believe me, that's a title I would not give away with ease. For an Xbox 360 launch title this game has not been rushed and has been an overlooked gem among many horror game fans.
Condemned has a very mature, complex story. You play as crime scene investigator called Ethan Thomas. Ethan is well known for catching his man but is having trouble on a certain case on a serial killer called the 'Match Maker' who displays his murdered victims with male department store mannequins. Ethan investigates many of these scenes and is soon on the killers trail but he has no idea what he is getting into when he is framed by an unknown gunman for the shooting of two police officers. Now on the run from the police, Ethan decides to clear his name and catch the killer at the same time but he soon finds out that there may be other things at work.
Condemned takes a very special look towards combat. Firearms are available but are in short supply and there is no bar or meter displaying the ammo so you have to check the amount of bullets in your gun from time to time to make sure you do not get caught off guard. So, instead of firearms, you will be using a lot of melee weapons which may surprise many FPS fans but this really is more innovative than it may sound. Nothing brings more satisfaction than wacking a crazed junkie over ther head with a steel pipe :-). That may sound cruel but it is, infact, brilliant. You will have to block many of you enemies attacks which is a real challenge judging the enemy AI. Condmned has some of the best enemy AI I have ever seen in a game. The enemies are unpredictable and will even fakey their attacks so you block early and then they catch you off gaurd. They hide around corners waiting for you and will strike with anger in their eyes. When they lose their weapon and are at a dissadvantage they will run and grab a new weapon to fight with.
Fighiting is not all you will do in this game. The game has a nice little twist where you turn into a signature crime scene investigator. There will be parts where you will get out high tech crime scene gadets which will reveal clues. Be careful not to be caught off guard though as in Condemned, you may think your alone but very well not be ;-).
In conclusion, Condemned is brilliant. It rivals the production values of some top class Hollywood horror/action films and is an overlooked gem among many actions/horror games so go out and buy it.

 Fantastic game but...

The game is amazing, the story is ridiculously amazing and the graphics are Brutal. Achievements are great! BUT........there is always a but.....The fighting engine is hard hitting and you feel like your actually caving in some skulls....but that block button is pretty useless unless you have the locker door or a sign or something....the blocking is terrible and really hard to perfect.

Definately worth buying if you have the patience and if you like investigating things.........like if your brother has been in your room and nicked your porn or something....if you had this guys tools.... justice would be served lol....

This is the first game that I purchased for my xbox360, and I have sold it since, then bought it again because I missed it so much.
Condemned is one of the greatest games that I have ever been lucky enough to have played, it looks spectacular and feels unbelievably real. I must warn you though, this game is not for the weak stomached (this is what ran through my mind as I destroyed someones face with a pipe I just tore off the wall) It is a very good survival game, the player has to make do with surrounding objects as weapons, such as signs, pipes, and planks of wood.

The game is most fulfilling if played on the hardest setting, it poses a challenge therefore and makes the finishing of the game more worthwhile.

The only downfalls of the game is the linear plot, which see's you doing what it wishes in a set manor, there is very little freedom, and and top of that the game is very short lived, I finished it within two days of playing.

But, for some reason I didn't feel disappointed when I finished playing. So much so that it is still on my shelf today.

Graphically it sets the bar high for other games to compete with, and the level of enemy AI is very good (if played on the harder setting), its also a very emotionally involving game, at points the game actually scared the hell out of me.

Overall, a good effort and worth playing. And, now that it is part of the 360 classics range, it's worth the money.

Oh my god this game is actually legendary. Its one of a kind and very very scary, the graphics are superb and every single location in the game is very freaky and terrifying, You see lightbulbs swinging as if someone has just hit it, hear thing being knocked over and all the while your in very dark and horrible locations, The whole crime scene part of the game is very cool as you have to use UV lights and other CSI gadgets which makes for a lot of fun. It has a great storyline too and the hand to hand combat is awesome and makes your heart pump faster for sure. Playing it in the dark late at night with no one home is probably the best way to play it but in saying that.... i don't know if my heart will be able to take anymore of it lol. The noises are so eery and gives you a lump in the back of your throat. If a game can manage to scare so many people like this one has then its definitely one of a kind because its not an easy thing to do in a game. This one grips the player and makes you want to keep on going to the end. ITS A MUST BUY !!!!!!!!!!!!

Want a scare? Look no further

I have never seen a movie that has scared me, and i would never expect a game to either, but this game did.

Picture this: You are walking round an abandoned house looking for a way out, then suddenly some zombies walk round the corner shouting at you. This scared the living daylights out of me. If you like a scare i would definantly recoment this game!
