I bought this when released after it had been postponed a year or so. I was so thrilled that this component switch looked kinda like my 360 - and there weren't many on the market at that time.
I bought it for around 120£ in Denmark - and I was had, had I tell's ya. Let me tell you why.
When in standby the display light is faintly glowing. Hugely annoying.
White colours simply scrambles the picture. I did try connecting the consoles directly to my tv, trying to recreate the picturescrambling - but no - it was this 120£ 540c thingie - yes I even tried with new expensive cables.
I tried contacting Joytech support, but I never received an answer. Naturally I'm all done with joytech products.
But don't necessarily take my word for it - At the current asking price of 17.99 you might just go for it, just don't expect a miracle.
Singstar is out of the question - too much white in the picture in some songs.
I was looking at all the various component switchers around ranging from £15 to over £100 and opted for the Joytech 540c after some thought and review reading. There were mixed reviews but I've found it an excellent bit of kit. I have my 360 and my old Xbox connected via component and both happily outputting sharp HD Pictures. I get no interference as previously reported. The added bonus of the 5 port hub built in also means both my Xbox versions can be on the network at once, and I still have 3 expansions ports left as I am thinking of a PS3 for Blu-ray. (Also in response to astoryatthrees review, when using the stock 360 connector you need to switch the HD settings on via the controls under the front panel, out the box it is SD, but all detailed in the manual.)
Cheapo built quality, cheapo remote, cheapo cables in comparison with AV control Center from Joytech I already own.Black screen when switched to HD when connected with special X360 cable.Washed out colours and reduced clarity when connected to some other port directly with original MS component cable.Lots of interference and (my favourite) - sound passes through to TV speakers even with the device powered off! Worst buy ever even on 20 quid price tag.
The product would be great if it worked as it supposed to do.I cant get a dissent signal in my LG full hdtv.Wii has a problem, I cant get progressive scan on ps2 and I get a black screen with my 360 and yes I ve tried every possible solutions in every forum I could find, stay away !
I received one of these free for subscribing to the official Xbox 360 magazine and the first thing that came to my attention was that you can't connect the 5 jack component lead and the three jack (Red,Whte,Yellow) video audio lead at the same time. The component lead uses the red and white jack slots of the audio video lead section. This meant I couldn't have my Dreamcast / Xbox / PS2 connected at the same time as my Xbox 360 or PS3 without having to swith leads around everytime I wanted to play an old gen console. It really wouldn't have been difficult or too expensive to add an extra set of red and white audio jack slots. Also the display on mine stopped working after about two weeks I phoned Joytech three times and emailed them twice (As they have a two year warranty on this product) and everytime they told me they wouldn't fix it because I got it through a magazine and not through a shop. Plus the Nintendo Wii will not work with this when using a component cable. On the plus side, it looks good sitting beside your Xbox 360.
