I must admit i was a little dubias about this title but i picked it up for £7.00 so i had nothing to lose, i started playing it and oh may god this game is strange but very addictive the puzzles are interesting and it's not just a straight forward blaster which makes nice change, some of the levels really make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end as it is very dark in places and with only a fag lighter for light you find yourself getting caught out in the dark alot. The graphics are o.k. the gameplay makes up for this the weaponary is awesome but wierd! You really must buy rhis for your collection well worth the cash!

Prey is a diamond in the rough when you look at the 360 back-catalogue, with the amount of FPS on the console you'd be forgiven for overlooking it.

The game follows the story of Cherokee-born Tommy, as he spends another night on the reservation that he hates so much. As he pleads with his girlfriend Jen to come away with him away from their birthplace, a series of alien and malicious series of events lead him on a quest to save Jen from his nightmarish enemies.

Not only does Tommy battle Hunters, mutated experiments, supernatural phenomena and the gravity-defying technologies of 'The Sphere', he must overcome is loathing for the teachings of his forefathers, and follow his Grandfathers cryptic words in order to gain the power to overcome incredible odds.

The weapons used in Prey are some of the most detailed this reviewer has ever seen. Each gun has primary and secondary fire, and from their look to there uses they are truly unique. The rocket launcher fires primary devastating rockets, whilst the secondary fire opens a shield that can defend shots that come head-on.

Preys USP comes from Tommy's spirit form, a press of Y and he will leave his body and fight with his spirit paired with his powerful Cherokee bow. He maintains this by absorbing the souls of fallen enemies, and it can be used for head-on fights, stealth attacks, and puzzle solving.

Personally I rate Prey's story better than Halo 3's, although the multi player doesn't fair as well. Prey has excellent maps and fast-playing Quake-like action. Unfortunately, lag is a big factor as it can be ridiculous at points, and you'll have a hard time finding a public match these days on XBL.

For £10 Prey is an absolute must, even if you don't like FPS. The mix of portals, alternating gravity, incredible weapons, and stunning graphics and textures, you can do no wrong buy picking up this 360 classic.

If you dismissed this as not a real fps and didnt buy it when it first came out, I advise you get it now. The solo play is one giant puzzle, which may put some people off, but if you can get past the mind-bending wallwalking and teleporters its pretty linear. It's the one fps that actually makes you use your brain and can prove a bit of a challenge. Another great feature of this game is death; a contradiction, maybe. This game when you die allows you to go to the spirit world to collect life points and spirit points from fallen enemies and when you go back to the real world you carry on from wherwe you died.. meaning no more having to start from the beginning of the mission or checkpoint like in halo and gears of war. Another great feature of this game is the guns. No reloading.. EVER! this is a much welcomed addition to the fps genre. Some of the weapons have a small 'cooldown' period which is 1 second or less, making it much quicker than reloading. This game at point gives you ammo sparingly meaning you have to get to grips with what weapons work best against what monsters otherwise you can see yourself running out of ammo very quickly. You can also use the wrench pretty much throughout the game and it is even favourable on some monsters. Don't know what it is like on harder difficulties but when using the wrench to kill hunters you can actually walk right up to them and they stop firing at you and try to move away. Overall a really great game, I recommend this to anyone looking for a decent challenge.

A gameplay tip: Hardly anybody plays this game online anymore so i suggest you and your friend buy a copy so you can get the online achievements. If you do this getting the full 1000 gamerscore should be pretty easy.

Great fun. The Singleplayer can get quite repetitive at times but its always coming up with puzzles and battles that keeps things fresh. The Multiplayer adds replay value too.

This is actually a very good game. ive completed it on all difficulty levels and got loads of gamer points from it. fab graphics and a cool story line too.

cool feature is when you get killed you can redeme your life by shooting ghost souls with a bow and arrow in like i suppose is a door way to heaven or the afterlife type place. its hard to describe, you have to see it for your self.

for £10 this is a bargain, i really enjoyed this game and put a lot of hours into it.

first person shooter, lots of guns and blowing up stuff. neat traps to work out and as ive said a decent enough story line.

i recommend it....

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars good for the price

this game is actualy not bad. i would expect people to look at this and think that a game this cheap would be bad, but it is not.
getting gamerscore is easy but dont expect to be able to get 1000/1000, this is because some of the gamerscore is from doing matches through xbox live, but the live is dead

apart from the live being dead this is a realy fun game and a must get for the price.

I brought this game for £10 and it is well worth the money as it aint a bad game you start off in a bar, get took to a spaceship and have to fight aliens.

it is a weired game as you have to run up walls and solve a few puzzles but it is easy to complete and good for gamer points

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Easy Gamerpoints.

What can I say about Prey? It costs 10 quid and you get nigh on 700 Gamerscore simply for finishing it on easy difficulty.

Story:

You play Tommy. An indian captured on an alien spaceship as you try valliently to rescue your girlfriend from their evil grasp. As you progress you learn about your history and the powers you possess. In the end, you are forced to make a difficult desicion concerning your future.
The story is nothing special to be perfectly honest; it's all been done before. You won't find yourself worying about your fellows or mourning their deaths. The occasional "Oh.. That's a shame.." is about as close to an emotional outburst as you will get.

Gameplay:

Entertaining. Throughout the game you are faced with a series of interesting puzzles involving 'Portal'-style doorways that lead to an alernate area. Some of these 'Doorways' are activated by switches or other mechanisms that will have you pondering the solution. But not for very long. Another interesting feature is the ability to shift gravity through the use of switches. This adds a new dimension to the game, allowing you the ability to traverse difficult areas easily. A cleaver feature that I enjoyed.

The FPS aspect of the game has a lot going for it. I mean, it can't be compared to the likes of Halo or Call of Duty but all of the guns are well designed, with primary and alternate fire modes, interesting stylings and entertaining effects. You never have to reload either, which is cool.. I suppose.

Graphics:

Mediocre, at best. Despite this game not being that old in the grand scheme of things, a lot of the effects are begining to seem dated. The weapons are really the only things that bear some realism, despite them being alive... The character models look fairly poor, to be brutally honest, and when compared to games like Mass Effect, the characters seem like they belong on the PS2. But in truth, it dosent matter, because the graphics are passable, and this game dosent really rely on breathtaking good looks.

Summary:

It's not bad. It's not great, but it's not bad, and for a tenner, what more could you ask for. It's more than possible to finish this game in a day and net yourself over 650 gamerscore, but to be honest, don't imagine yourself playing this over and over again, because you won't.
3 Stars.
