  Good game

I bought this for a fiver from Play - money well spent.. I loved C&C but this is a big step up. Voice recognition normally works fine but the odd misinterpretation of what you command.

I would imagine the voice commands could pose a problem with someone with i strong accent though...

  C&C Wannabe

It is good, fair play to it. But just doesn't have the same/similar feel as to what C&C has.

Voice Tech is quite interesting though =)

  Brilliant, but a bit unrealistic

| | See all GAMO119's reviews (6)

I saw this game in a shop and got it straight away, which was a good choice. However, this game is unrealistic, as in a war you take the battlefield building by building, and it takes days. I know it would be really boring if you had to play the same battle for days, saving in the middle, but they could last for a bit longer than 30 mins. If you like commanding an army more than fighting in it, this game is for you. The microphone is a great touch aswell. It is a great game and well worth a lot more than it is.

  EndBore...

The reason this game is £10, simply, is that it is awful and has fallen way short of the quality mark usually present in Tom Clancy titles. Ubisoft seem to have become so swept up in getting the voice command right that they forgot to make a good, or at least functional game aroiund it. This is promising, as it shows what can be achieved in the right hands, but the weak strategy and poor sense of realism or atmosphere mean that this is a game that has failed to live up to the hype it received. Disappointing.

  awsome but dissapointing

| | See all nathmac92's reviews (2)

i love this game.its what ive always wanted but in a way it is rather dissapointing. i was expecting epic battles between huge armies in major cities where everything was destructible.i couldnt even get near the eiffel tower. i thought you had to take parts of cities with troops clearing buildings and advancing slowly. dropping in reinforcements when needed and haing different tactics. wicked game but not as detailed as expected.

How could this have gone so wrong?

There is a clear reason you can buy this game brand new for £10, and that reason is.... is terrible. The voice control seems like a nice touch, but you soon realise you are just talking out loud saying rubbish like 'Alpha one secure Yankee' . In the heat of battle you just keep yelling different commands at all your units and get frustrated.

The units are slow to react, and for a 2008 game they have no AI to speak of. Retreating away from a stronger opponent takes them ages and they usually get wiped out.

The 'rock, paper, scissors' style of battle is appauling, as is the range of units. Providing the unit you are attacking beats your unit in the 'combat chain' it doesn't matter is you outnumber them 6 to 1, they still wipe the floor with you.

Despite the fact there are many different maps, every game plays out the same way. All you have to do is find out what unit your enemy is using and then use the 'combat chain' to find out that units weakness.

This game could have been so much more and the fact it has Tom Clancys name is a joke. If you want to play this game, see if you can still download the demo, then play it over and over again, because thats pretty much what the whole game is like.
