Cheaper than buying directly from the Xbox homepage and be warned - your Xbox saves your credit card details and you need to *PHONE* Xbox in order to stop them automatically redeeming your membership and just taking 40 pounds off you each year.
Xbox live is the best online experience you can get, Playstation Network can't compare with this community. However, microsoft are not addressing properly the issue of lag. On an online game like Gears of War with only 8 players you can see some of the worst lag in online gaming, and as people already complain a lot on these things with the host of the server having a distinct advantage, you can imagine how much more annoyed people get when the game plays as awful as it all-too-often does. The fact we should have to pay £35 a year for playing on a network that can lag with 8 players while PS3 owners get a free nework that can hold more than 40 players online with NO LAG, is beyond me. Believe me i've had a lot of fun on xbox live but its getting rediculous now and we the consumer are getting short-changed.
You're right at first glance it seems that you are getting ripped off by having to pay for a service that you can get free on other consoles. However, had you done further/any research into it you would have found that while the ps3 online service is free for the customer it means that game developers have to pick up the bill meaning they will not keep servers online for older games. This means that the only games playable online will be the developers latest release. Unlike the Xbox live service which you can still play release games on.
This is by far the greatest consol. Sure PS3 has some really cool games and little things but i must admit 360 is the way too go!!
Live is amazing though!! I completed COD4 and tried online and wow it is sooooo good!!! Go online now!!! Its ace!!!
xbox live is good fun but if you were a true gamer you would build your own pc and play online on a pc with a keyboard and mouse for fps'
