The next Guitar Hero is here! Get ready to thrash with the definitive collection of Metallica's music and over 20 other rocking bands on guitar, drums, vocals and bass. Up to four players can join together and rock locally, or battle other bands online with up to 8 players. Guitar Hero: Metallica includes the "Rock Star Creator," playing with friends online, the full Music Studio and the user-created music sharing service, Guitar Hero Tunes. Finally play the Death Magnetic downloadable content as Metallica.

The game supports two kick pedals in a new "Expert+" mode, letting you drum like Lars on two bass drums. Go deeper into Metallica with videos straight from Metallica concerts and the option to test your Metallica know-how on any song you beat with facts on the band's history, and how guest acts are tied to Metallica. Metallica has added their own touch from the attacks in Battle Mode to the effects in the Music Studio.

I just played the demo and it seems like a Guitar hero game, nothing much has changed but then it doesnt need to does it? The other guitar hero games fall down from lack of decent songs IMO. But this one however has so many that ill be playing it for hours. (You might guess that i like Metallica haha). Theres some good tunes on there, however i was disappointed to see that blackened is missing.. oh well you cant have it all ey? And as for the hardest song on there.... Battery is in with a shout but I reckon "Disposable heroes" and "Fight fire with fire" wont be easy!!
Cant wait for this to come out should be awesome

Top 100  Reviewer Top 100 Games Reviewer

ok this is the best guitar hero to date. though im still a Rock band fan 1st GH 2nd.

I was never a fan of Metallica but this game has really changed my opinion of them, i kinda like them, they are perfect matches for this type of game aswell. and the game overall has and absolute perfect difficulty level. and the guest acts are all very fun to play aswell

Drummers will find a slight new challenge with expert+ mode, (expert with more bass pedal notes) which suports 2 kick pedals.

Guitar players will just find the same gameplay as GH WT but overall slightly more difficult, something i welcome

the Vocals has been improved upon fro GH WT making it playable.

but the thing i Love the most about this game is the pure detail and presentation and effort put into the game.

once a song has been played you can listen to it while reading interesting facts about he song,
also get the lyrics and details about the song.

the career mode is a lot more free choice. you choose what songs to play to unlock more. you dont have to play them, all and you can even complete the game by playing 17 songs. but where the fun in that.

one slight downer for the guys that like achievements is its a bit harder than the rest of the games to get 1000 from

 WOW, TRULY BRILLIANT!!!

What can i say apart from this is great. None of that namby pamby from GH: Aerosmith but an epic stand alone game in its own right. I was lucky enough to get a code for Death Magnetic as a free download and that just adds to the immense amount of tracks available here. With all the Metallifacts to unlock and the endless customisation from World Tour means hours of fun again. There is also a good challenge for players on medium too, which in my opinion is about time as many GH/ Rock Band songs on medium are far too easy. Expert + should also be interesting for those brave enough. Also from being fortunate enough to see Metallica live, i can say that playing this is like a genuine Metallica experience for thos who may have missed out on seeing them live. So why havent you bought it yet!!!!???

Whether you like Metallica or not!

I bought this game this afternoon so this is not a review of the demo.

To start with, the graphics on this game are superb, the best graphics on a GH game so far by a country mile.

Character likenesses are spot on, customisation is great, logo design etc is all in there.

The games structure is really well done, it splits the sets between for example, 5 metallica tracks, (of which you only need a certain amount of stars to continue) then gives you 5 or 6 other bands tracks to play with. so it splits the game up a bit.

this game also makes use of a second kick pedal for the drum kit. you do have to buy this seperately but it enables the "expert+" mode for any stupidly good drummers out there.

4 player band play is great fun, as are the various online modes.

like the aerosmith release, a little while ago now, the disc comes loaded with extra content such as band interviews etc, and these great things called "Metallifacts".

basically it's like watching Top of The Pops 2 where you see and listen to the band play (not actual video footage, in game graphics) and are fed information and facts about the particular song and the members around the time of the songs release.

so even someone who has never heard of metallica could win any metallica-based quiz event after an hour or two on this game.

whether you worship mr hetfield, ulrich, trujillo and mr hammett like the gods they are and you know master of puppets backwards, or if you like any kind of peripheral based music video game, this is for you.

If you're not a massive Metallica fan then don't buy it!

This game looks great and some of the songs are awesome to play but..........there is a BIG BUT!!

Songs are so long and boring and they've messed around with the Metallica song that was a classic on GH3 and now it has those stupid slide notes in the solo instead of the pull-offs in the original. You have to be a real hardcore Metallica fan to get long term satisfaction out of this game. If you're not and you're just a GH fan then wait for it to come down in price because it's no way worth the current price tag.

What is it with GH remaking old songs now but completely different and with bonk slide notes in????? Not impressed.
