if you use the card now it will add the 13 months to your remaining time on xbox live. so if you have 6 months it will increase to 19.

If you put the code in it will just add 13 months to your expiry date on your membership. Not sure if it will work on American accounts.
GOLD member privleges? The only things I can see different to when I 1st joined are the price reduced extra content packs, although most people will have brought them for the specific games when the the content was first were released so the reduction is pointless. It's only ever older game content that's reduced anyway!!!
Anyway LIVE is still the best online gaming round (and I've got a PS3 and 360 so can compare them), so get on it!!!

Excellent, must have if you wish you enjoy your Xbox 360 to the full. One question: If I purchase this now, will the code work in 9 months from now? Reason I ask is.. I already have a membership but this one gives a month free and I can't see that lasting long. So I was planning a buy in advance but not using the card til I needed to. Would it void?

Its the same price as the deal currently on xbox live, and you get an extra month. Especially seeing they have introduced privilages to gold members on xbox marketplace it is worth getting gold, on addition to the great online connection.
