Having been a long time player of tournament paintball and following the paintball game genre since greg hastings number 1 i was expecting big things. Unfortunately it did disappoint a little. Whilst a solid game generally, the difficulty definately needs sorting. On my first run through on Pro no strategy was required other than literally run down a tape (one side) all the way to their end, slide into a back corner and distract while your team cleaned up. Yes this worked all the way through to the very end, even on pro difficulty. However, if you wanted to take full advantage of field breakouts you could make it more difficult for yourself and make realistic breakout plans. This adds to the tension which you can otherwise completly avoid by just running around.
Another major let down is the multiplayer, more often than not it is so laggy that its a case of you can get up the field as quick as possible first.
Having said that, getting friends over can create some fun situations and the looks are a definite step up from max'd and for £24.99 miracles aren't to be expected.
Probably more worth the rental than a buy even at this price(if you can find a copy). You can finish it in a weekend and the multiplayer just isn't worth it. Easy achievement points (500 just for finishing the game on pro straight away).
Paintball enthusiasts only, it doesn't stand up as an FPS which saddens me to say as i was definately looking forward to this. Hopefully Max'd 2 delivers come christmas time.
