Dante's Inferno will take gamers to the western world's most definitive view of the afterlife as created in the 13th Century by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri in part one of his epic classic, "The Divine Comedy." Dante's Inferno tells an adapted story that focuses on delivering a blockbuster third-person action game experience while bringing Alighieri's depiction of Hell to the medium.

Players assume the role of Dante, who descends into Hell after returning home to find his beloved Beatrice murdered, with Lucifer seducing her soul into the underworld. Dante sets out on a rescue mission to save Beatrice, but he soon realises he is also in Hell to face his own demons and ultimately to redeem himself. Players will take Dante through nine unique circles of Hell as mapped out and described by Alighieri: limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

  • Game features:
  • An Epic Adaptation of a Classic: Based on part one of Dante Alighieri's classic poem "The Divine Comedy," Dante's Inferno is a third-person action adventure game that takes Dante on an epic journey through Hell as he seeks to rescue the soul of his beloved Beatrice.
  • The Nine Circles of Hell: Just like the poem, players will descend through Dante's unique nine circles of Hell: limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Each circle features distinct environments, enemies and story elements befitting the sins committed by their inhabitants.
  • Control the Beasts of Hell: Dante's Inferno features large scale beasts and bosses, some of which Dante will be able to fully tame, utilising them to throw back Hell's wrath to its minions.
  • Fast, Addictive, Responsive Combat: Dante fights through the nine circles armed with Death's Scythe and Beatrice's Holy Cross, with magic powers and a deep, customisable upgrade system helping the player take full advantage of a fast and fluid gameplay experience that will never run at lower than 60 frames per second.

 Can't be compared to DMC

| | See all gunnerboyedd's reviews (9)

Most comments people have told me or that i have read online have been mainly around the same concept. They keep comparing this games to the well renouned hack and slash games (For those who dont know, im referring to the Devil May Cry series, undoubtedly the best hack and slash series ever) and that is where reviews have been wrong. This game is totally different to DMC. The graphics are amazing. The scenery looks almost realistic when played on a HD tv. The concept is brilliant, could have been longer and possibly added more sycthe/cross combos but i digress. The story mode is quite enthralling and the enemies you come across each have there own unique abilities which keeps the game turning on its head.

I believe that this game is definately one to be purchased under any circumstances. However if it was a choice between this and DMC 4, then i would definately choose DMC 4 just for the history the game has and its variation between swords, gauntlets and guns. However as a standalone it is absolutely amazing

I disagree with the last 2 reviews this game offers great platforming, great storyline, good puzzles and great graphics!

The Last few must of played it on easy as i found it quite a challenge and long enough!
Ask for the replayability there wil be a update for this game very soon not sure if its co-op mode or extra levels.
Go out and buy it you will not be dissapointed best platformer on the xbox 360.

I didnt know what to expect from this game. but i picked up the death edition for around a tenna, which wasnt bad at all.

this really is a great game. button mashing hours of fun. the storyline is very good picking up from the original dantes infrno anime.

its going to be very good to see where they go with thus they could easily bring this into the seven deadly sins or other things around the hell topic.

you dont get achievements for the difficukty setting and can change this during game play. you just have to keep a good wit about yourelf to find all the collectibles scattered around the place.

if you like this game i also recommend darksiders.

overall 4/5!!

 Won me over

I wasn't sure about this when I got it initially and even put off playing it while I had Bioshock 2 to work through but when I did start working my way through this I thought it was fantastic! I've not played any god of war button mashers like this before but it's really good. The levels are well thought out and designed well and the upgrade systemdoes a good job of letting you decide how you want to play the game. I did knock 1 off for it's lack of replay value (even though I did play again for the achievements) but thoroughly enjoyable and I'm looking for other games in this style such as Castlevania.

Into Hell with the camera from Hell.

If you enjoy a hack and slash game...with tons of gore and nudity to boot...then look no further for your kicks. Dante's Inferno, which is almost like a darker more mature Darksiders, takes you on a one way trip to the depths of Hell in a killing spree which will give your button mashing fingers the cramps. BUT...much as the destroying of HUGE monsters...like those in God of War....gets, along with a nice touch in saving / destroying souls, the camera lets the game down big time. Why you can't change the camera's angle to see fully your surroundings / play area is a complete mystery and one that leads to lots of 'oh bugger it' unexpected deaths. Also...if you loath QTE's then give this a miss as it is littered with them. All coming when you least expect them. This may be seen as a negative review but bar the cruddy camera and QTE's you'll get a huge ammount of enjoyment if hacking and slashing...with the odd puzzle element thrown in for good measure...rocks your boat. Welcome to Hell.
