On the war-torn planets of tomorrow, mankind's greatest battle is about to begin. With its frontier colonies devastated by a growing insurrection, Earth dispatches the elite 8th Armoured Infantry (nicknamed Section 8) to repel the coming onslaught. Section 8 is a sci-fi first-person shooter delivering the ultimate multiplayer experience. Shattering the worn-out clichés of the genre, players determine their own role in combat through customisation of weapons and armour and by altering the flow of battle - calling in 'deployables' and triggering objective-based missions that affect the entire battlefield.
  • Burn in to battle from 15,000 feet: see the battlefield open up below, hit the air brakes and choose where you land.
  • Dynamic Combat Missions alter the flow of battle and remove all predictability. Use your wits to gain victory instead of just doing the same things over and over again.
  • Call in 'deployables' such as powerful gun emplacements, tanks and walking war machines to secure your hard-won territory or to gain a strategic advantage as you advance on the enemy.
  • Choose your weapons, armour and more: don't be restricted to a class such as 'scout' or 'medic.'
  • Incredible graphics, powered by a heavily modified Unreal Engine 3, delivering huge, open battlefields.
  • Full single-player campaign telling the story of trooper Alex Corde.
  • Unrivalled multiplayer combat allowing for clan, team and individual stat tracking.

 don't compare to halo

| | See all sabrewing's reviews (1)

the title says it all, this game was never meant to be a halo rip-off
unlike like said game to win in this game you must use team work and tactics something you rarely see in halo.

THE METAL MANIAC! My unclouded review points.

After downloading the demo (which is sweet) I felt a few nigling little doubts. For starters you can't jump so you have to use some of your jet pack energy, when sprinting it takes too much time to get up to a full sprint and pulling the trigger doesn't make you stop so you have to yank back on the stick to stop and fire. Which leaves you with the unfortinate prblem of haveing half a clip of high calibur rounds sticking out of your face and an armour failure!!! The control layout suffers somewhat also, but hopefully they have been working on some and hopefully all of these issues maybe thee will be the option to fully customise your control layout. Taking all it's faults into consideration Section8 is enjoyable, great fun, action packed and looks like it's got enough to keep being fun with out being to repetative. P.S. Also for some reason there's no penalty for not using your air brakes, other than getting up ever so slightly slower.

Would people stop recommending games just based on demos

My major problem with this game is how short it is even a mediocre game player like myself can complete it in a number of hours and you are limited in the game to using the special armour and tanks in certain levels only. You are also constricted by the area you can move in. The people who recommended this game just based on demos have done us a disservice

 Its sort of Tribes 2

Anyone remember Tribes 2 for the PC ? its a similar thing, initially fun and exciting but the novelty wears a bit thin after a few days.

Graphics are basic, not much detail, sound is o.k. does the job.
All a bit average.
Organised teams would enjoy this, but most drop in players just seem to be doing their own thing getting achievements ( there are a lot of achievements ).

In my opinion there are better multiplayer war games out there at the moment e.g. the downloadable Battlefield 1943 which is half the price of this game.

Robocop with no arms or legs.

Simply a horrid game, feels slow and dated. The GFX put me off abit but i gave it about 3 hours and completed the ''campaign'' and had a bash online. Neither of these modes made it feel anything other than a benchmark program for a PC (and a bad one at that!)
I'd stay well clear of this, i'll be in my local game retailer tomorrow swopping this drivel!
