Split/Second Velocity, an intense action racing game set within the world of a hyper-competitive reality television show. Competitors vie to be the first across the finish line in a made-for-TV city built for destruction, with the ultimate goal of becoming the season champion. Competitors in Split/Second Velocity don't just collide with other vehicles to knock them from the track - they can also trigger explosive events that drastically alter the dynamics of the race. Players must use strategy and pinpoint timing to derail opponents, tactically alter the track or create entirely new routes.

  • Drift, Draft and Jump around the track to build up your power bar so that you can trigger epic Hollywood destruction as you race to victory
  • In "Race" mode every lap and every race are a unique experience as you are in control of the environment
  • Use the city as your weapon as you activate race-changing powerplays such as:
  • Bringing down a bridge to take out your opponents
  • Activating a plane to land on the track
  • Exploding an entire building blocking the track and opening up a new route
  • Compete in season mode: Race your ways through 12 episodes each containing multiple events from the 5 different event types on your way to become the Split/Second racing champion
  • Compete in explosive offline and online multiplayer events across different event types and involve your mates in the carnage

 just another burnout

graphically the game is good and it is just my opinion but i thought it didn't offer anything different than what we have already had if you've got any of the burnout series save your money, completed single player mode in no time and will be swapping this in for blur which may not be as pretty to look at but at least the concept of having weapons and power ups and how you use them 360 degrees in any direction sounds more like fun.

 Superb

Racing games can tend to get a little dry after a certain amount of time, but Split/Second's beautiful graphics, and fast-paced adrenaline fuelled racing never seems to let up!

Once you get the hang of drifting, and start to progress through the seasons, the AI gets gradually tougher, to the point where you think the Xbox has a serious grudge against you (i.e. shunts at critical points in the race WILL destroy your chances of winning). This can be annoying, but racing game AI is always a bit like that. Learn to use the power plays to your advantage, though, and you'll soon be laughing in the other car's faces... erm bumpers.

At 12.99 (as is the Play price today) you'd be daft not to buy this. Brilliant!

 100% Awesome!

Absolutely Fantastic game, amazing gameplay, immense Soundtrack, a brilliant idea as a whole, some online play difficulties, but nothing too serious. 10/10

 Entertaining chaotic rush of adrenaline

Split second is an excellent arcade racer with a difference not only are you racing against the clock or other drivers you have to watch the track for triggered explosions which can really alter the game dynamic in an instant. The track can change route as buildings collapse around you or a crashing jumbo jet can wipe out every care ahead of you as you laugh evilly through the burning debris to a new lap record. The game is a lot of fun in single player with clever AI and enough game modes to satisfy however the game has an extra gear when you play split screen or in particular online the human element sorts the men from the boys.

Roaring trucks exploding barrels and attack helicopters make this an entertaining chaotic rush of adrenaline.

 a must buy!
