I've purchased three of the Guitar Hero drum controllers and so far i'm hardly impressed.
While they sport more pads than the equivilant Rock Band controller they are by far the more fragile.
So far i've had the green pad sensor just drop off the drum head and break, that was the first one.
2nd one was the same with the red pad sensor along with the kick pedal sensor becomming loose and eventually breaking off.
3rd one now has the same issue with the blue pad.
It seems these drum controllers were never designed to be played on expert day in day out, either that or i've just had really bad luck with the 3 i've used.
Unfortunatly there's no real replacement other than the official controller (unless you can afford an midi drum kit and set it up to play with GH), the rock band kit only allows for 4 lanes + kick pedal during play and is extremely awkward during some songs for example; Everlong on expert requires fast repeated hits of the hi hat and a quick snare hit which is next to impossible to accomplish (I'm referring to the GH:WT version, not the RB2 one).
So untill the guitar hero 5 drum controller comes out we are stuck with this (from my experience) fatally flawed device.
It's entirely up to the various players out there, if you don't play that often and your not into full combo'ing every song on the list on expert then this kit might just be alright.
On the other hand If your a hardcore player that likes to have a good session every day on expert/expert+ i recommend then to use some caution, they break real easy and are hardly cheap to replace.
Yeah it's good the drum kit can now be bought seperately for peeps who couldn't fork out £150 :/
But look at the price of the drum kit alone?? It's just not worth it.....
Avoid.
This drum kit is excellent and much better than the Rock Band one. I use this with both Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
Also the previous comment regarding the Mic isn't quite correct and you can in fact use an Xbox Controller Headset Mic with the Guitar Hero World Tour game which is useful.
This Guitar Hero Drum Kit, is absolutely amazing, its just like the real thing and is very durable, the only problem i have is this. The standalone price. Being £70 less than the band bundle i see how your saving money but after buying the Game its self you have only saved £35. I know it is a lot of money but unless you have Guitar hero 3 or 2 for the xbox you wont be able to use the guitar an mic features of this game which, with the band bundle getting a guitar and mic is worth £35.
can you actually find some that dont break!! first one of the pad broke, which he shop exchanged but now the plastic on the cymbal is broke!! need to be a bit more durable
