This game is amazing! The graphics are actually quite good, the players definately make good contact when they hit each other, gameplay is very good and complex with hundreds of strikes, takedowns, transitions and submissions, you can knock your opponent out cold with the right sritke. And the realism is spot on, because as any MMA fan will see, you can be getting the beating of your life and 1 punch, kick or submission can be enough to end the fight!

Maybe this game is more for UFC fans, still this is a really good game!

Great Game, Really brings the realism of the UFC and the octagon to life. The graphics are immense and you feel every punch and kick. The great thing about this fighter is you cant really button bash. Have to pick your moments for those crucial head shots or take downs.

Exhibition mode - great for a few fights and learn some new moves or get to grips with a particular fighter but you need it on an advanced setting otherwise you will just knock them out in first round every time. The one thing which is frustrating about the game but I am sure with practice you can get good at is the transition on the floor, once mounted its very hard to get out of it.

Online - They need to sort the lag out and its not just my internet I am sure of that. Also players quit when they are about to loose which is frustrating as it does not go down as a win. i have won about 11 games and lost 2 but my scorecard says 2-2 due to people quitting. But it's great to fight other users as you come across some people that prefer to take it to the ground and others who prefer to stand and fight.

Career - short but fun. I really enjoyed it and has replay value.

UFC is a great game, the fighters are perfect to real life with styles ect. Just a really enjoyable game, hopefully with the improvements with a patch for the online it will be even better.

Definetly NOT a terrible game. It is in fact one of the best realism-fighters on the market. In my opinion it is more enjoyable than Fight Night, but I am biased as i prefer Mixed Martial Arts to pure Boxing.

In this game, you get to create your own fighters, choose their styles, attributes and of course looks and trunks. It has a fairly deep career mode, and plenty of exhibition/xbox live modes.
I encountered nearly no lag while playing online.

The feel of the game is what makes it so fun, it just feels right, landing punches and kicks. It feels natural, as if your characters limbs are actually impacting on semi-soft flesh.
Very good physics in other words.

As for the graphics, they are great. The lighting is a bit spartan, there is no remarkable sci-fi lighting setups here, but the fighters themselves look very realistic.
Some of the best skin shaders ive seen to date. The upcoming Fight Night 4 seems to have slightly prettier shaders, but a bit too wet if you catch my drift.
In UFC 2009 your fighters actually look dry, like normal humans. As they sweat you see individual droplets crawl down the body, creating a trail of shinyness :)
Of course this applies to blood as well, which has a habit of staining the floor during heavy fights.

Overall, a clear 4 out of 5. A perfect score would indicate that the game is as perfect as it could have been, which i'm not ready to say after just a few hours of playing.
If you like realistic fighting games, and are tired of the endless pounding in boxing or the endless hugging in wrestling, this is the mix for you.

           Good game

          Top 100 Games Reviewer

This game manages to strike a nice balance between Fight Night and WWE. If you don't like the sport though, or any fight sim, I would avoid, this is for the relatively hardcore. The stand up game and effect of it such as blood and bruising are good, as is the ground combat. However, if you're likely to be frustrated at people always taking the fight to the ground (online and AI) then I would stick to Fight Night, as this is a tactic widely employed. The character models look good and it's a very faithful recreation, even down to the tale of the tape. The area where this game lets itself down though, is the career. Much like Fight Night and WWE, UFC struggles to make the career atmospheric, it's just train, fight, train, fight. There is no real motivation to take your guy to the top. A sequel needs to improve on this. The career should be the main event, not the warm-up. Prizefighter remains the only game in this vein to have created an atmospheric, enjoyable career mode. Fans will find a lot to like here, so will most gamers, but take into consideration some of my criticisms before buying. £22.99 is a good bargain though. A sequel is needed to make this the game it should have been.

           The worst game ever

A complete waste of money from begining to end! The game has very limited appeal and is difficult to enjoy. I appreciate the devolpers of this title have gone for realisim however one punch knockouts and ten second matches are pathetic
