Comedy Of Terrors
This has to be the most ridiculous movie ever made, but I never stopped laughing the entire way through, and the kids loved it!
The Sims 3 (PC & Mac)

This is no doubt a very good game. There are a lot of improvements from the Sims 2, but also some things I don't like. For one, you are limited, initially, to just 1 town, and you can't zoom into any of the roads to get better views of the houses. This is frustrating if you are building a house and can't remember where it is! You also cannot save houses you are building until you get back to the town view, which is very frustrating.
This game can't be played on a lot of PC's due to the high specs required, and I don't think the game is good enough to force an upgrade just to be able to play it.
However, that said, game play is more realistic and you can visit other lots, neighbours etc. from wherever you are. You also have a lot more control over designing Sims and houses which is a big plus.
All in all, this is a good game and worth the cost. Personally I prefer The Sims 2, but that could be just because I've played it for so long and am more used to it.
The Sims 2
4 New from
My daughter had been telling me for months about a game called The Sims, and press-ganged me into buying it. How glad I am that she did.
Just like real life, you can lead your Sim through his or her life as you would your own. Buy (or build) a house, get a job, fall in love, get married, have kids, grow old and die.
Even if you can't afford all the expansion and stuff packs that have been released, it's still a very enjoyable game. There are far too many variables to list, but each character you create and play can live completely different lives and have different things happen to them, depending on how you play it.
It should, however, come with a health warning, as it's very, very addictive, and there are tons of websites around where you can download new content, or even upload your own creations.
The Sims 2 comes packaged with Body Shop which allows you to re-colour the clothing, hair, facial features and accessories in the game, or even create new items if you know how.
This is a great game that can be played time and again without becoming boring, and should appeal to older kids and adults alike. Very worth the price.
Note: I've played this on Vista and Windows 7 with no problems. You can download a patch from the Sims 2 official website that helps.

I must have watched this movie at least a dozen times. The actors all seem to gel together, and even if the story is a little out there, who cares! I watched this with the kids and we all loved it from the start.
If you like action combined with comedy and romance then this movie is for you as it has it all.
This is good, clean fun. something that is sorely lacking in movies these days, and you can safely sit down with the whole family to watch this.
Jon Voight is excellent, as usual, as Ben's critical father. In fact, all of the cast enjoy themselves immensely in their various roles, and you have the token villain thrown in for good measure.
I strongly suggest you buy this, even if you haven't seen it first as you won't be disappointed!
Columbo: Complete Season 1 Box Set
19 New from
Columbo, played by the late, great Peter Falk, is the ultimate detective with a knack for seeing clues mere mortals always miss. He's cute, charming, intelligent and ruthless...when he sets his sights on the suspect, they may as well give up, but of course they don't.
Unusual for a detective story, you almost always know who-dunnit, and sometimes you even empathise with the murderer. In fact, so does Columbo, but that would never stop him in his pursuit of justice.
These movies are great for a rainy day or night in with the hubbie. Grab a bottle of wine, put your feet up and give yourself up to the genius that is Columbo.
Scrubs: Series 1 (4 Discs)

Scrubs is one of the best TV shows around. It will either have you laughing or crying with each episode, and the surreal clips that accompany JD's little mind-wanderings are hilarious!
You will find everything here, comedy, drama, romance and the genius creation that is Dr Cox! All of the characters are fantastically acted, and no matter how terribly some of them behave, you can't help but love them.
Some of the episodes are unpredictable and downright tear-jerking, but each one filled with unconventional humour, even if some of the story-lines and events are a bit out there.
All in all, a very enjoyable series that can be watched over and over again.
Alice In Wonderland (Tim Burton 2010)
22 New from
First of all, for the people who think this isn't like the book, it's not meant to be! It's set a few years after that, and Tim Burton uses his imagination to bring to the screen a fabulous, dark and sometimes moving story.
This may be a bit scary for younger children, but we all loved it! The special effects are amazing and the acting superb. Whenever you pair Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in a movie together you can be sure it will be something special.
Johnny Depp is scary, cute, loveable, brave and very sweet as the Mad Hatter, but completely insane, bless him, and he acts the part to perfection, as he does any role.
The cast obviously had a great time making this and it shows. We saw this in 3D at the cinema and just had to buy the DVD as soon as it was released! Yes, it's a fairly run-of-the-mill, predictable, good versus evil story, but none the worse for that.
If you decide to watch this, don't expect the usual Alice story, suspend your disbelief and have the fun the makers intended you to have. It's great!
50 Words For Snow
Kate Bush - CD
29 New from
Some people have compared this unfavourably with 'Aerial', but they don't seem to realise they are two very different concepts.
This album is very different to her others, but then they all are! I can imagine sitting in front of the fire in the snow, listening to this over and over again. I adore the '50 Words For Snow' track and listen to it time and again.
You either love Kate Bush or you don't...if you do, I can't see any reason why you won't like this. Just expect the unexpected, forget comping it with any of her other albums. Just listen to it and make up your own mind.
I love it, it's perfect for doing the housework!

I was given this album in vinyl form as a child by a friend, and from that moment on I was hooked!
Her first, and some say best, album with some marvellous tracks such as 'James And The Cold Gun', 'Oh, To Be In Love' and 'Room For The Life', as well as the more commercial 'Wuthering Heights' make this an unforgettable and timeless album.
I never, ever tire of listening to this and it crosses all time barriers because of it's unique style and sometimes daring content. For her age, Kate was very much ahead of her years, and her maturity and insight shows through in each and every track.
The Whole Story

I've been listening to Kate for as long as I remember and never get tired of her music. This album is a collection of some of her best works and is well worth the price.
Kate is quirky, eccentric and an undoubted genius, and I'd be hard pressed to place her music in any particular genre, so if you are a fan of 'a bit of this and a bit of that' you will probably enjoy this.
