  1.  Appalling

Am I the disappointed one. I had heard great things about this film but when I got round to viewing it, it was a witless waste of time. Poor script and populated by characters one could not care less about it was dreadful. How it has been so successful is totally beyond me.

  2.  Could not be less than 5 stars

What a great collection of classic singles. They never received their true credit due to them. Ace songwriters and superb live performers.

  3.  Best live act around

This album features just about the best lyricist around right now. Garvey is a brilliant writer and is in the best band to showcase what he can do with a lyric. Saw them live in March and they could hardly have been better- NIA seemed like a small club . Now THAT is a good band.
The new songs on BARB are growers , as many have already said, this album is worth the effort to get to know.

  4.  UNOBTAINIUM?? Give me one small break!

When I heard that the stuff they were looking for on PANDORA(!!!!) was called unobtainium, I knew what to expect. Spectacular visuals and no attention to the script or story. That is just what we get with Avatar. It is beautiful to look at with as much depth as a child's paddling pool. The graphics themselves are very derivative. Take a look at Roger Dean's artwork from the seventies and you will see what I mean. I did enjoy the movie in spite of my misgivings and gripes because it was a 1950's western set in space with a similar plot-white man joins indians against his own kind. James Cameron gets away with it again. Titanic was hyped successfully and so is this . Judging by the amount of extraneous merchandise that surrounds this release the production company is laughing all the way to the bank.

  5.  Impressive reimagining

I was not expecting a great movie to be honest. I really rate Robert Downey Jr and I think Jude Law is a wonderful talent but Guy Ritchie?
GR's celebrity status got in the way as well as the couple of clunkers he made. But I was totally carried along with this excellent adventure/action movie. It is Sherlock but not as we remember him. A new slant on an old character and Downey makes it work. The production design is brilliant and atmospheric and the way GR uses the camera makes it all come alive. I dare you to hate this film-I was expecting to but just loved it to bits.

  6.  Wonderful Mark Strong

One of the best crime dramas I have ever seen. Mark Strong's performance as a crime boss is awesome. Get this and you will not regret it. Violent and at time disturbing it is a great acheivement. A pity no-one seems to have heard of it.

  7.  Great collection of songs

Wonderful writer and performer of great songs. The collection on this album is fantastic. As good a writer as anyone and as such is criminally underrated. The title track has a lot to say about fame and Somebody Loves You is all about how it feels for artists on stage. Brilliant and unmissable set of songs.

  8.  Underrated artist

NK is criminally underrated and dismissed as an 80's teenybop star. Yes he was that but if you listen to his albums they are stunningly good and this is no exception. Great songs well written and performed. Terrific lyrics and very satisfying instrumentation. I saw him live many years ago and he is one of the best rock guitarists I have ever seen and I have seen most of them. It is a great shame that more people do not appreciate his output.

  9.  Original and brilliant!!

Cranston became my favourite comedy actor in Malcolm in the Middle, his timing is impeccable and his physicality brought a freshness to his performance. In Breaking Bad he proves that he is not limited in any way to comedy. Supported by a great cast of more than competent actors (with a special mention for Aaron Paul) Cranston is riveting as a terminally ill chemistry teacher who turns to the dark side to provide for his soon-to-be bereaved family. There are elements of comedy in Breaking Bad-very,very black comedy but comedy nonetheless and that too strikes just the right note in the writing and performances. Not one bit of this story would work if any of the writing, direction or acting was wrong. Everything is spot on. The characters are not written or played as stereotypes and the script is tight and drives the story along. The whole enterprise is about as absorbing as drama can be and one cannot wait to see what happens from one episode to the next- and what happens is never predictable. I am into series 2 now and hope that the standard continues for a third series. A terrific example of what can be done with TV drama when playing it safe is off the agenda. If you haven't seen Breaking Bad buy this DVD -you will not regret it.

  10.  Triffic!!

A great album and a welcome addition to Robbie's catalogue. Rudebox was panned but it too was a good, if not great , album too.
Starstruck is my favourite track at the moment but the rest of the tracks are triffic too. It should put him right back up there where he belongs. I don't have much truck with many modern pop artists (I am 61) there is just not the talent there but RW is a great entertainer , not just another popstar.
