  1.  a truly forgetful series...

    Posted:

and so we have the ending piece to the twilight saga...
and it's a truly forgetful forgetful one at that, much like the others in the 'series'... a truly un-inspired ending with pathetic performances, truly a waste of time... an hence forth i say watch a TRUE vampire film, (Christopher Lee and Bella Legosi should do it) where the lead characters don't sparkle and stare gormlessly into one another's eyes.
If you truly think this is a clssic... go direct yourselves to the IMDB top 250... i'm sure you'll find some classic, well acted and directed, 'worthy of purchase' titles rather than this cinematic garbage...

  2.  Timeless Classic

    Posted:

To start off this box set comes with 5 cuts of the film on three different discs, of which if you're a die hard blade runner fan you'll be glad to hear as this will allow you to choose you're favourite cut of the film!

Also included is a bonus feature's disc with plenty of content which you can slowly work your way through, an reversible Art / Production book, a lenticular card, a spinner concept card as well as a model concept spinner.

Having only seen the 2007 cut thus far I can't comment on my favourite cut just yet, however make no mistake; Blade Runner is a thought provoking timeless classic, visually stunning and with stellar performances by Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer, you can't go wrong.
certainly not a f 1 star rating, this box set is more than ideal for fans of the film and is a stunning addition to any collection, especially for the price point.

For die hard fans this is certainly a 5* box set.
If your not then this might not interest you, depends if you want 5 versions of the same film opposed to the one which doesn't come with all the bells and whistles that this set comes with.

  3.  disappointing

    Posted:

I feel this book to be quite disappointing considering it's by Stephen J. Sansweet (god of all Star Wars collector items) and how much praise i've heard about it from other fellow star wars collectors.
To begin with It has no real detail in terms of card-back (packaging to you an me) variants let alone figure variants; a no, no for carded collectors.
nor does it have any pictorial details on accessories that come with each figure.
It's essentially a book with pictures of just 3/3 4" figures that have been out over the last 35 years, and that's (unfortunately) not including vehicles despite figures that come with vehicles are in the book.

I must also say I've stumbled upon some missing figures within the book; Malgus (vintage collection no 96), Tarkin (vintage collection no 98) - yet figures from later waves within the vintage collection line are included, (Starkiller no 100 and Republic Trooper 113), also not to forget Clone Wars Cybernetic Maul.

Don't get me wrong you can tell it's by someone who's passionate about star wars (well it's by Sansweet after all) and when reading it, it's like being sat with a incredibly passionate friend briefly talking about each and every item in his collection with some reasons why he likes it, but thats the thing.
It all feels so brief that it's like a friend rushing around his / her room pointing things out giving a couple of reasons why they like it, In that sense the book seems rushed...
And it pains me to say that, and I feel I can't slate it any more to this point as I understand that each year it becomes increasingly hard to make a comprehensive book on an ever increasing toy line.
    35 years and onwards...
which leaves me questioning; why not just make an yearly figure Annual opposed to one "big book"?
separate books dedicated to ONE year of 3/3 4" figures / vehicles that were out in that set year?

So is this book worth getting?
To a newbie loose collector, I'd say get it as it offers enough information you require as a starter.
Collector's, I can only say it's up to you... but I will say have a flick through it in store and judge it in person before buying to decide if it's any worth to you.

    I rate it 2.5, however 3.5 if you're a newbie to collecting star wars 3/3 4" figures

  4.  Another Adam Sandler Stink Bomb

    Posted:

Another Adam Sandler film to put on to the pile with all the other BAD films he's been involved with...

A disgrace to cinema let alone your IQ when watching, do yourselves a favour and buy yourself a film thats worth watching...
The fact this film won all the Razzie awards of 2011 should be enough for you to steer clear.
how anyone could give this film 5 stars is beyond me...

  5.  don't... just don't

how could anyone give this film 5 stars and how people can have the mental capacity to sit through ANY film with Adam Sandler in, is completely beyond me...

  6.  A must own steelbook to add to you're collection

    Posted:

Watchmen is one of those films that's a hit and miss for some people.
I personally enjoyed this film and did the comic book justice, even with certain tweaks that i really feel were necessary: towards the end of the comic a giant squid appears....
not to be found here, and if they did include this i feel the film would have got even more teared apart than it did by critics.

HOWEVER If you loved the film like me and you're a steelbook nut YOU NEED TO GET this!
A fine addition to my collection and what surprised me even more was the fact that it's the directors cut of the film! From what i've heard it's vastly superior to the original cut, though I can't exactly comment on this cut myself as I haven't seen it yet.
One downside for me is the fact it doesn't come with bonus features (boo) but then again neither did the DVD copy of the cinematic cut.... no loss / gain there then! Despite this the steelbook itself gets a 5/5 from me due to the fact you really can tell thought went into the choice of art work and cut of the film, which compared to other steels out / soon to be out in terms of price / value for money (10 pounds as of its release) you really can't complain.

  7.  let the haters hate...

Star Wars on blu ray i bought for the soul purpose of bonus features...
I knew lucas would change and add some things in some of the films albeit episodes... as much as i would love the original cinematic versions to be released on Blu ray in the glory they truly deserve.

however i constantly remind myself - this is George Lucas story and this is how he wants to tell it... and i must admit - some of the changes keep it fresh, and gives something to the fans to talk about, and i should know this, for i am a star wars fanboy!!!

Episode one is my least favourite - though over the years its begun to grow on me, and i appreciate it for what it is; yes maybe vaders transformation should have begun in episode 2 opposed to episode 3 - but once again, it's Lucas story!

TEmpire Strikes Back will all ways be the best... heck the Original Trilogy as a whole is the best!!!
but you know; the series as a whole is tied up wonderfully together... for years fans have waited... for ALL 6 films to be bundled together...

And finally now... we have that along with some AWESOME documentaries, Awesome and interesting deleted scenes and superb art work all bundled in to a 9 disk box set...

if your a star wars fan this is a must...

  8.  The Unique Animated Movie That Is 9

    Posted:

i would like to start off by writing this review by saying that 9 is not your typical animated movie...

to sum this film up, it's almost like watching a video game in a sense that there are 4 villain characters or as there called in video games; 'bosses' - Boss one - Cat Beast, Boss Two - Winged Beast, Boss 3 - Snake / Seamstress Beast and Boss 4 being the utterly HUGE one that when you fight it, beat it, rejoice over the fact you've done it then only to find out you've ticked him off to the point he turns into a rage machine and well... you either beat the boss or it beats you...

now this isn't to say it's all action, there is some very good and unique character development.

the 'rag dolls' (as Shane Acker calls them) are the ones that make up the character of the scientist -the 9 of them as individuals have wonderful personalities of which make up and give an idea of what sort off character the scientist was...

BASICALLY to sum the story up The Scientist created the fabrication machine, of which basically became corrupt (due to its human superiors using it for war) and created other machines to attack humanity, with humanity being at the brink of extinction, the scientist created 9 rag dolls to basically continue life, in doing this he gave parts of his soul to each of the 9 rag dolls of which each one adopt part of his personality I.E rag doll '7' adopts the scientist will to fight.

The whole setting of the film is very eery and post-apocalyptic, however with a name like Tim Burton behind any movie it's clear it's not going to be the most colourful or cheery movie out there.
If your thinking of showing a kid this movie (despite it being a 12) i would recommend adult supervision - i feel that it's not a 'scary' film - however it does have the odd 'jump' / 'shock moment'

straight off the bat i absolutely adored '9'.
the animation if not quite pixar quality is still wonderful, its an easy going film; a film that i feel is very underrated and over looked.

NOW i have the DVD version of this and i recently got the Blu Ray Limited Edition HardBack Book copy and i have to say - picture was wonderful and crisp same with the sound!
The book has some gorgeous art work; if you love concept art book's - despite this ones size - i recommend it, presuming you enjoyed the film and willing to part with the cash!
