  1.  I like them, I like them a lot!

Ok, so your looking for a new set of headphones, you don't want to spend a fortune, but you don't want a pile of tat either!? You decide to browse the mighty Play.com and find that they offer a stunning range of all sorts of "cans" , from the mega expensive to the less so expensive, the choice is yours, and the choice is an easy one, if your search criteria was anything like mine!

I was looking for a set that would above all else have a very long lead, sublime sound quality, preferably Sony, comfortable and hopefully less then £20 to £30.

Let me explain; the reason for the very long lead, is that as an avid xBox 360 gamer, I needed a set that would be able to be used in conjunction with a very expensive HD TV and COD4 (online multiplayer) into the wee small hours of the morning. I wanted to enjoy the games stunning audio, without waking the whole family. I needed at least 3mtrs of cable, to my surprise the Sony MDR-XD200 has 3.5mtrs, so that's one tick in the box.

The sound quality is in my mind above average and so much better then the Play.com price suggests, the drivers on these headphones are large enough to cover a broad spectrum of music demands. I have used these to listen to Spoken Word (Radio 4 Pod casts) to Hed Kandi dance compilations to Alvin and the Chipmunks!!!! And they have preformed flawlessly. The magnets used in the headphones are Neodymium, which is a very strong magnet, the up side of this is that the sound quality will stay truer for longer, in short, they sound never fail. On each headphone is a switch, that can be switched to either "music" or "movie", this sounds pretty self explanatory, but the curious thing is that the movie setting makes no difference when listening to music, however, when watching a movie from DVD, the setting really comes into its own, it makes a massive difference. When listening to music the bass can be a little flat and uninteresting at times, but not every time, top end is sweet and crisp, but the mid-range can be vibrant and more detailed, especially if driven by a powerful enough amp. Don't get me wrong, to the average occasional listener, you'll be thrilled with the performance.

The headphones should in my eyes be classified as full size, because to be truthful they are on the large side, but having said this, they are well balanced, well built and very very comfortable to wear for quite long periods of time. I know the health implications of wearing headphones for long lengths of time, but you will literally forget that you are wearing them! The Sony designers should be proud on that score.

As far as pricing is concerned, they are an absolute bargain at £12.99, I would have paid £30 for these on the high street without any equivocation, and even then, I would have thought that I'd had a result! It seems silly to me that anybody should consider spending anymore for a what are a very good pair of headphones. I would without doubt buy another pair if I needed to.

As other reviewers' have suggested, don't bother wasting your time looking for a better deal or a better headphone for that matter, I really don't think that you will find one. Purchase these today, and you'll be enjoying sweet music two days later!

  2.  It is, what it is!

Having had this controller for some time, I feel as though I have the right to give it a fair review. I won't waste your time with techno-babble; all I will say is that this is a pukka piece of kit. It does everything it needs to, and more in my opinion. Its robust and very well put together, like all of Microsoft's it's made to take a beating and still come back for more.

The size of the unit suits western europeans and not so much our asian counterparts, mainly due to the size of hand difference. The configuration of the buttons is something we are all used to now, so no surprises there.

In a nut shell, it's a great piece of kit that will do the job it's designed to do. To be fair, I like the MS range of gear that complements the xBox 360, so I don't have too many bad things to say about it!

Get one and it'll be the last controller you'll have to buy, as it'll last forever!!!!

  3.  I brought this for my iPhone

I originally brought this to charge my iPhone, whilst in the car. The current crop of iPhone chargers are in my opinion too expensive and not worthy of their inflated prices. I saw this and thought, why not! It's cheap and if it doesn't work, I can always use it for my Sony W810i.

On arrival I plugged my iPhone into the USB lead and ran to the car only to find that it will NOT charge my iPhone :(. It will however, charge my 2nd generation iPod Nano and my Sony W810i without any problems at all.

Mine has been used and abused and still continues to work flawlessly, so all I can say to the other reviewer is his/hers must be defective and should be returned to Play for refund or replacement, that's why we get given guarantees'!

  4.  The best.............by far!

I'm not going to spoil the plot, I'm not going to write 2000 words telling you how good it is, I'm not even going to tell you the bad parts of the game.............as there isn't any!!

All I'm going to say is if you're a self-respecting xBox 360 player, you MUST have this game in your library; it's as simple as that. This game is the best by far, in my humble opinion.

At £17.99 it's an absolute steel, much cheaper than anywhere else on the net, and anywhere on the high street. Play.com have done the business again and supplied us with a real gem that will not break the bank. Buy it and buy it now......

  5.  Hassle free and neat on the eye!

First things first - it's a Microsoft product, so expect it to be well made and to do its job exactly as it was designed to do. You can argue that MS software is good and bad on any number of levels, but you cannot argue that their hardware is tat! Simply put, all of the MS original xBox 360 hardware is superb, well made, durable and priced competitively.

This is the case in point for the WIFI unit, its small, does it's job well and is silent in doing so. The small cable is an flat USB connector that slots into the back of the xBox and the unit simply "clicks" into place in pre-designated clips at the rear of the unit. There is one light on the unit that turns from RED (no signal) to GREEN (with signal), all very simple and will take no more then 30 seconds to clip into place.

Once in place, all you have to do is turn the xBox on, and configure the "dashboard" to connect to your internet router. The whole process, should take less than 10 minutes, as long as you have your WEP key, you'll be good to go in no time at all.

From a technical stand point, it's rumoured that you will get a faster connection/gameplay using a WIFI connecter, than you will using an RJ45 patch lead. I'm a little unsure as to the validity of this information, as most RJ45's can support GIGABYTE LAN's, which is greater then WIFI capabilities. To be honest, I have both and the only difference that I can see while online gaming is that a patch cable will continue to stream data, were the WIFI router will stream as and when required. This may well be an unfortunate characteristic of my router, but a characteristic all the same.

In short, I would have no hesitation in buying another unit, if mine was to suddenly explode. It's a very good piece of equipment and a useful one if you enjoy playing games online and don't want a grey cable trailing from one side of the house to the other.

  6.  Better then other reviewers€ would have to believe!

This game in my opinion is top class, its as simple as that! Now, for the record, let me state that I've not played it "online" as this type of gaming does not float my boat. I have played it through to conclusion and loved every frustrating minute of it. It's quite a long game that will have you playing for many a day, and to be fair, it can be quite difficult to get to grips with. I came from playing Rainbow Six: Las Vegas, to this, and struggled to come to terms with the controller set up, but once mastered, it became second nature.

Let me put a few demons to bed and start by saying, read the other reviewers' comments of this game with a pinch of salt, please bear in mind that this game is dated compared to COD4, Halo 3 and other graphically rich games that are currently available. The plus points of GRAW are the story line, realistic sense of surrounding game play and it will keep you entertained for a long time, especially considering its less then £10 (delivered). I will not spoil the story by explaining all here and now, but considering it's age, some of the latest game developers could learn something from GRAW.

GRAW for me is a game I'll go back to time and time again, not because its easy, but because it's fun and I can play it! The game style sucks you in and the story line keeps you going, the FMV sequences make you smile and to be honest its just a very good game.

My advice would be to buy this game BEFORE buying GRAW2, as GRAW 2 is on a completely different level. You will have all the skills you'll need to complete GRAW2 if you play GRAW beforehand, trust me I know!

Take a look at PEPIN86's review for more information on the game play, this guy I believe is the only person to give the game a genuine review. To be honest, I just cannot understand why, most reviewers have slated this game, it's a gem and a steal at £10.

  7.  Two for the price of one!

I think I may have brought Play.com's last one that they had in stock! If that's the case, it's a shame, as you'll need to hunt down this great game some place else. Every now and again, I like to walk down memory lane and admire the view. And this is when I came across this little beauty, it's not a huge game, it will not keep you playing for weeks on end, trying to complete the damn thing, it's not the prettiest of games, and the graphics are not as rich as the latest offerings.

But what it does have in spades is retro style!!!!!!!!!!!!! The game will run on nearly any modern day PC and if your lucky enough to own the bolt on addition, the game will have an extra dimension. There is nothing fancy about the game in particular and to be honest it just about scrapes 2D, but I like the fact that I can go back to my gaming roots from time to time and think to myself, WOW................the games today, Halo 3, COD4, GRAW2 and Las Vegas really are simply awesome!

Long live Delta Force, that's what I say...................long live!

  8.  You need this............period!

If you have an xbox 360 that's attached to the xbox live system, you need one of these cards to get the best from xbox live. Like most things on Play.com, you will not find it cheaper else where, so stop looking!

What you are buying is basically a code, when put into the "live" control panel will give you 2100 points, these points can be used to buy "content". This can be small avatars', online multi-player levels or my favourite, additional add-ons to your favourite game. You simply redeem the points and buy your content, simple!

That's it really, there is not a lot else to say. Another cracking deal brought to us by the kind people at Play, and one you'll no doubt be going back to again and again.

  9.  Great drives, but not fast!

    Posted:

First things first - the price cannot be beaten, no matter where you look on the net, no one can match this price. So, if your looking for a large size flash storage device, your search should stop here!

Please don't buy from the worlds largest auction house, as your not guaranteed that the drive you buy will last 12 days, never mind 12 months. The drives that Play.com sell are the real deal and will last a lifetime theoretically, as flash drive technology is almost bullet proof.

When choosing a drive, please pay particular attention to the read/write speeds, as these will be a good indication as to how long you'll be standing arouns waiting for that large GB file to transfer into the drive or out of the drive. To be honest, the drives that are sold as Play.com drives are fairly good at both read and write, they are not the fastest, but they certainly are not the slowest either!

I have brought three of these in the last 12 months and all work perfectly well, they are suited to USB 2.0 boards better then USB 1.0, but then again, not too many computers these days use 1.0 (thank god). All in all a sound drive, if you want mega fast read and write, buy a Buffalo at quadruple the price, if you want sound advice, buy a "Play" drive and thank me as you've just saved yourself £30!

  10.  It is what it is!
