This film is satire at it's best, comedy at it's best! In your face, laugh out loud humour from start to finish. The movie is jam packed with cliches and stereotypes, each of them fitting perfectly into the storyline. There is nothing unexpected in that storyline, you know where you are going and how it's all going to end but the journey there is exciting and hilarious as you are accompanied by some brilliant actors making sure you enjoy every minute of it.
Each actor truly portays their stereotype to perfection. The shining star by far was Robert Downey Junior and his character had me laughing out loud time and time again. His performance, as far as I am concerned, is his best ever, Oscar deserving, not that a film like this would ever be watched by the fuddyduddys that control the destination of those trophies.
Other unexpected gems were Tom Cruise, Nick Nolte and Steve Coogan, each again playing a stereotype to perfection.
This film has everything, humour, drama, action and adventure.
The reason I'm taking away one star however, is that I really think that parts of the dialogue go too far into a crudeness that is not necessary and therefore loses the flim a large portion of viewers who would otherwise watch it. Bad move by the directors methinks. I myself cringed a few times and when discussing the film with friends felt the need to forewarn them of this aspect of the movie, however still a must-see!
