     A truly great RPG

For newcomers to the series, the Yakuza games are a series of RPG beat-em-ups which put you in the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu, an unusually noble Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) member, who keeps getting dragged back into the life. They're most noted for their detailed cities to explore, strong stories, intriguing characters, and fun beat-em-up gameplay.

This time though, you don't just play as Kazuma, you're also put into the shoes of 3 other characters.

First there's Tanimura, a corrupt cop, with a
passion for gambling. Saejima, a man on the run after serving 25 years on death row and Akiyama, a loan shark. Each character has their own unique style of fighting and the combat is just as fun as ever.

There are a huge amount of sidequests and minigames to play, such as Golf, Ping Pong, Darts and Poker. So far i've clocked up around 20 hours, but there's still so much left for me to do.

Yakuza 4 is a very unique game and is, in my opinion, one of the strongest games that has come out so far this year.

Note: The game is dubbed in Japanese with English subtitles, which some people will like and some won't. Personally I prefer it in Japanese (it would be kind of weird travelling around japan with everyone speaking perfect english)

  2.  Classic

The third game in the criminally overlooked Yakuza series is just as good as ever!
    Positives
-Another great story, with the return of many familiar characters.
    -Loads of sidequests and minigames
-The extras that come with the game make it fantastic value for money
-There is a story recap at the start for newcomers (though i'd still recommend playing the originals)
    -A fun combat system

    Negatives
-A couple of the minigames were cut when it was localised (though there are still around 16 left so it's a minor issue)
-The game starts out slowly and takes a while to pick up the pace, which may put some people off.

    Other
-The game is dubbed in Japanese with English subtitles, which some people will like and some won't. Personally I prefer it in Japanese (it would be kind of weird travelling around japan with everyone speaking perfect english)

Conclusion: Yakuza does a lot of things right, it has a unique setting, interesting characters and a good story, but like all the best things in life, it's an aquired taste.

  3.  Great fun.

I played through the original CoR: Escape from Butcher Bay back when it was first released several years ago. I loved it then and having just finished this new visually upgraded version, I can honestly say that even now, it still feels just as fresh and unique as it did back then. For me, even if Starbreeze hadn't added in the whole new 10 hour Dark Athena campaign and the multiplayer, it would still be a "must buy" game, so with them included it's a huge bonus and an absolute bargain.
