I don't usually read auto-biographies, prefering to immerse myself in worlds that don't really exist. But having read about this one in a magazine, I decided to buy it. I have to say, I'm glad I did. 'Mikey' has introduced me to a world that I held lots of stereotypical views about, and showed me how wrong I was. This man, of a similar age to myself, has managed to come out of a perosnal struggle to be a great example to young gay men of any background. It's a moving story, and invoked pretty strong emotions as I read. It was finished in less than a day, my attention having been grabbed almost immediately.
This, for fans of the Expanded Universe, is where it all began. At the age of 12, a typical Star Wars fan-cum-geek, I bought this with my pocket money, and have never looked back. Were it not for the success of this novel and the following two installments from Zahn, there would probably have never been the number of novels in print today, and who knows...maybe the demand for the sequels would never have been there. Anyone looking to buy there first Star Wars novel, outside of the film tie-ins, should start here...trust me, you'll not be disappointed.
