  1.  Fun,fun,fun!

    Posted:

Very original, very clever, very touching, all at the same time.

This is great entertainment, and rounded off by THAT cameo, it makes for a superb film, well worth watching.

  2.  How to write a Black Comedy...

    Posted:

Anyone who likes the darkest of black comedies with the starkest of outcomes will love this film.

Has Christian Slater done anything better than this? I doubt it. He's on top form as the out of control, unhinged and totally nasty piece of work best friend of the Groom in this Vegas set Bachelor Party gone wring film.

Even the ending, which I won't say anything about, gives no respite to the viewer as the film wrings every last drop of nastiness out of the script.

Think of it as a darker version of The Hangover...

     Underrated......

    Posted:

Why on earth U2 don't play songs from this album when on tour any more is a complete mystery....

This is a great album, possibly their second best behind Achtung Baby, and proves that great rock bands can reinvent themselves and challenge an audience.

Discotheque, Last Night on Earth, Please and Do You Feel Loved are standout songs from a very fine album.

  4.  U2's best album....

    Posted:

Without doubt this is their best album.

Cutting a sarcastic swagger right from the beginning, this album delivers a sublime selection of songs.

Both forward thinking and retro at the same time, it sounds as fresh now as it was when first released - an essential purchase.

  5.  Superb guide to Bruges!

    Posted:

This is the film that the tourist board of Bruges must have surely welcomed when it was released.

Not only is it a great film but it also gives a great guide to the city as well; I'm going soon to see it for myself.

As for the film, it crackles along with a heady mix of humour and thriller to a fantastic climax.

  6.  Hugely enjoyable

    Posted:

This is one of those rare films where the cast are having such a good time that the vibe just flows through to the audience.

The soundtrack is superb and the script provides more than enough laughs to carry the story.

    Well worth watching.

  7.  Raimi back on form

    Posted:

A great horror film that scares you out of your seat.

With Sam the man back in the director's chair you can be assured of scares, humour and a great story.

This film provided everyone in the cinema with a few jumps and scares along the way to the climax.

  8.  Bonkers but fun

    Posted:

This is totally enjoyable hokum and should not be taken at all seriously.

Nicolas Cage does his best chin rubbing yet and lest we forget this is a sci-fi film; as in the plot is bonkers, the ending totally bizarre and out of context with all that went before, and that suspension in belief is a must.

Taken in this context it is no more or less bonkers than 2001: A Space Odyssey.

     Solid Brit Thriller

    Posted:

British movie goers seemed conspicuous by their absence when I went to see this film and I don't know why really.

This is a solid, well directed thriller with a very good underlying message.

It's not what I would call a horror film but nevertheless it's paced well, has a strong central cast and sufficiently bad 'baddies' to draw you into the film.

  10.  Brilliant

This is the long awaited masterpiece and follow up to the bands equally superb debut album.

Their music is so difficult to describe but fans of melody and powerful arrangements will love this band.

If you like Fleet Foxes, Low and some of the heavier Massive Attack tracks I think this is for you.
