  1.  Don't expect this a evolution to Spidey games..

    Posted:

Spiderman 3 for the Playstation 3 offers almost identical gameplay, and has little more to offer despite being the whats called 'superior console'. First off, lets get down to the core of the revew.

Everyone loves spidey right? Well obviously. Everyone has had the occasional dream of being Spiderman. Or is it just me? Anyway, the closest way to 'become' Spiderman is through the games. And this game succeeds well.

Spiderman 3 is a non-linear game, (which basically means you can do or go almost anywhere or do anything you want), and instead of the basic free-roaming style game, you are Spiderman and your main means of travelling the streets is by web action! And this game does this alot better than it's predecessor (which was also great). The swinging animation is perfect and flawless. This makes the game what it is, a Crackdown killer. This game offers many entertaining side-missions to complete, but also the occasional street fight which you need to stop, and the crimes around the city to sort out. This game offers alot more replay value than other games of it's genre.

The fun doesn't stop there, with the upgrades that are purchaseable, and the story missions to complete, there is alot to this game. The city looks nice, with nice reflections off the building and spiderman does look great whilst swinging.

However, it's not all great. There are many flaws to this game, such that the framerate is pretty poor. And whats more important, is it's even worse than the game on the Xbox 360's. This could probably be because it's a port, or a port. The framerate is frustrating. The oddjump will screw with your mind, and put you off course.

However, what's worse is the camara. This is probably the most irritating part of Spiderman 3. The camara is very different to Spiderman 2's fixed angle, and now follows spiderman as he swings. Sure this isn't that bad, but it's controlling that angle that really gets on your nerves. Sometimes you will be fighting enemies, not being able to see where they are. Or even worse, find yourself stuck in a place where you can't discover how to get out. This game offers a few glitches, that are quite nerving.

Sadly, it doesn't stop there. The storyline. Sure, it will keep you going but it's generally poorly done. The cutscenes look embarrasing to look at, considering we are now in a next-generation of gaming. But also, the fighting. This is very simple, and really just a button-smashing mash up. Thats fine for some, but for others, that is not enough to entertain. Spiderman 3 also offers a new type of gameplay, to try and pull you away from the button smah up. This is the 'click the onscreen button' that marvel ultimate alliance offers. This is alright in small doses, but the game seems to spring it upon you every few cutscenes.

The PS3 version is perhaps a little poorer than the xbox 360's, but does offer very slightly improved graphics. However, this doesn't make up for the old-generation cutscene cringeful graphics. But everyone always says, gameplay beats graphics. So perhaps the framerate lets it down a little.

The green goblin.. in special GAME store editions. This is the version I have early, and to be honest you are better off buying the Play.com version. The addition character, The Green Goblin, offers relatively boring gameplay and is not that fun playing with the six axis. With little to do, and just a few cool moves, I would call it a pass. Nothing beats swinging, than gliding.

However, enough moaning. Many people who look to buy this game, find themself more interested in swinging the city doing these random crimes, races, and more. Spiderman 3 is a great game, just it has it's flaws.

  2.  Great!

These days, it's hard not to give every blu-ray DVD at least 4*'s. Simply because of the amount of additional content, and most importantly super visuals. This movie does indeed, have incredible visuals. But i'm not going to interpret that into my rating's, because it's the movie that matters.

This movie is by no means bad. It offer's alot of humour and most of all, dick van dyke is in it. It is a great movie for family fun, but not a movie for wathcing every other month.

It lacks a strong amount of depth in the movie, and can be put down a little on it's shabby actings at time. But that doesn't matter, it's not trying to be the new matrix, or Titanic and it does what it's trying to do superbly.

Many well known actors appear and put a smirk across your face. You'll see Ricky Gervais, following his 'Office' character's side, and various other well known stars.

This movie earns it's four stars well, but watch it on occasions. Otherwise it will become extremely repetetivly boring.

  3.  Mini Review specifically for HD Console owners! (360/PS3)

This TV looks superb on both consoles. You may be in the middle of choosing a HD £300 32" no-name company TV but please stop. Sure, the no-name TV will look better than a SD tv on both consoles, but your perhaps getting what you pay for. This means, within days or weeks, dead pixels in the center of the screen, poor sound quality and more.

With the Samsung, the TV is a fantastic purchase. I, owning two TV's. This samsung, and a Hanspree (who the hell?!) 32". I can easily say the Samsung beats it on every aspect. The visuals are a sharper and the best I've seen.

This is a great TV. But do not be put off by no-names if you're are not looking for the top-notch quality TV's.

  4.  Best Series of all time? I think so.

This book is following the Harry Potter series, of doing magic. Harry continues his adventures, in the darkest book yet and it does not dissapoint. You will not be able to put this book down, until you've read it for the 3rd time. Think magic is for children? You'll think extremely differently after this. A 5* purchase, fulfilling it's potential. Do not miss out.

However, make sure you've read the other five in order first. Otherwise, you'll miss out completely. An essential buy, for ages of ALL KIND!

  5.  Crackdown - A fantastic purchase

    Posted:

Well before you read the other reviews, stating there is simply not enough to do in the game.. that has completely changed. A recent update to the game has included a TON of stuff to do, including online races and more. New weapons.. cars and alot more.

But without that, crackdown is still an amazing purchase. Your role in the game, is playing as a special agent, or `super cop, and save the world of crime, hence the name Crackdown. But what makes this game so different in the playing style to the specials like Grand theft auto, or possibly Saints row? Three words, Super Human Abilities. The ability to leap 35 feet into the air, while in the air, throw a lorry at innocent bystanders.

You start the game as your basic super agent, with no name. Each time you log on to crackdown, you are free to change the difficulty and your super agents appearance. However, the in-game appearance changes due to your ability levels. When you first start, your abilites are nothing too special, being able to hop a few feet and maybe run as fast as your grandma. But thats what makes crackdown so special, the amount of time and effort it takes in levelling up will make you keep coming back for more, let alone the saisfaction when you DO level up.

Yes, a successful sandbox game is one where freedom is essential. You are able to tackle a mission, in any way possible, finding tricks and techniques to use to your advantage. Thats where games such as Grand theft auto and Saints row succeeded. Crackdown offers a very subtle story mode. Why you ask? Because the developers have tried to make a game, with too much freedom. Its not about the engaging, well script story mode. Its simply about driving, running, jumping and swimming around the city. Anyhow, thats where crackdown fails. A story mode with no plot is not really a story mode at all.

Crackdown though unlike previous GTA games, and the successful Saints row or in fact ANY previous sandbox games, offers a complete co-op mode. A fantastic one too. The game suffers from extremely small, if no moments of `lag despite its large size, and you are able to play with a friend, or a stranger over Xbox Live and tear down the city together, doing exactly the same stuff as you could on your own. With hundreds of races planted accross the map, you can spend hours at a time just cruising or killing your pal. With a great list of achievements to complete (Body Juggler, Use explosives to keep a body up in the air for 10 seconds), and the fun gameplay, the game will keep you coming for more. The game is smashes the likes of `Superman: The Videogame to a pulp, and certainly gives Saints row an extreme run for its money. With lots to do, great cell-shaded visuals and lovely open ended play, this could be the purchase for you, unless youre looking for an in depth story mode.

But with the recent update, everything has improved. More races, weapons, cars, online play and more.

    A quick summary,
Visuals : 88% - They may be cartoony, but they are perfect for the game.
Sound : 78% - Good sound effects. While driving, the occasional good tune, but no rocky radiostations.
Gameplay : 95% - A large amount to do, from races to collecting agility orbs, offering a fun amount to do.
Value for money : 89% - This game will take you more than a weekend to complete. Plus, a free Halo 3 Beta.

    What more do we need?

Overall, a solid 90% offering a good length of enjoyment.

  6.  Oblivion Statement..

    Posted:

    There's no point reviewing this game. It would be around honestly, 20 pages long and there simply is not enough space to review it. So heres one line, to fit everything in;

"Buying this game will kill off your social life.. but you won't care, as you can continue playing.. forever and ever.."

10/10 game. Buy it, Even if you normally do not like RPG's. It will satisfy anybody.

  7.  Pro Evolution Soccer 5 review

    Posted:

This game is a downgrade. By that, I mean it is not a next generation game, it is infact, worse than it's predecessor.

But by all means, does not make this game bad. The gameplay is classic Pro evolution Soccer gameplay. Any football fan knows this is a great thing. The gameplay is immense. Everything from the match options, to the camara angles is set out perfectly. But also the handling of the ball. This remains superb.

However, what makes it worse than it's predecessors is the amount to do on the game. Brace yourself, theres something you should know before investing in this..
The whole 'edit' mode has been stripped. well, almost. One feature remains, but it's almost completely pointless. There is no more Create a player/team/logo/strip mode. Oh, also there is no Edit team names mode. So your stuck with London FC i'm afraid!

But for this price.. with the magnificent Master league, and Exhibition mode, for this Classic price? Definitely. But however, a word of advice. Pro-Evo fanatics only. Otherwise you'll be put off by the gameplay. Especially if you're coming from Fifa. Anyhow, give it a go.

Another thing to point out.. is Online is pretty poor. Unlike it's opponent, Fifa 07, It does not offer 2v2 gameplay which is alot more fun. Also, the game sometimes seems to lag and even worse, your opponent cheats his way out of the game.

So be warned.. But remember the price you're paying for it.

  8.  Spiderman 3 Review; The good, bad and the ugly.

  9.  Motorstorm.. A stunning launch title

    Posted:

Remember the title, it's a launch title. But for crying out loud, this is one of the best games i've ever played, coming from a 360 owner as well.

The races are extremely fun, ranging from falling off mountains, to driving around canyons, to flying in the air on a quadbike, I cannot fault this game. Split screen multiplayer is a no-go at the moment. Does not mean an update couldn't fix this.

The visuals are absolutely mind-blowing. They compare to Gears of War, and for a launch game, is unbelievable. The potential of this machine goes far.

Motorstorm, is a fantastic purchase. However, try out the demo first. From that, you will be able to see if you like it's core gameplay. Online play, is ridiculously fun. Shoving people off their bikes FTW!

  10.  A brilliant console purchase.

    Posted:

Coming from an actual PS3, 360 and Wii owner, this review may be more trustworthy that some of the other reviews, written by Sony-opposers.

You cannot go wrong buying this product. Sure, it may not have a huge variety of games out now, but theres alot to do without these games.

For instance, watching Blue-ray DVD's on HD TV's look's absolutely mind-boggling. I always believe.. nah, it can't be THAT great. But that was before I saw it in action. Stunning.

Brilliant games are COMING! I don't know how you can't say Motorstorm isn't stunning enough, but there are more top-notch games arriving. Such as

Warhawk (online 32 player battlefield style game, with planes!) Assassins Creed (This looks fantastic. Nothing else needed.) The Getaway (The first two were not 10/10 products, but still provided tons of fun. The trailer for this, is almost life-like).. Metal gear solid. Need I say more? One of the biggest title coming is something called Little Big Planet. It's hugely innovative, but looks one of the best thing's i've seen in a game. Youtube it!

The console overall provides so much to do. Download Blue-ray trailers, Playable Demos and full games to install onto your PS3.

The only thing I can fault about the PS3, is the friends system. This is due to change in an update, so then I will call it faultless.

    There's my two cents,
this is a fantastic console. This deal is also top notch price, and is extremely good value. Buy it off play.com now!

It may also be good to mention, I'm writing this review off the Playstation 3's browser, using Linux on the console. Fantastic!
