  1.  The sound of early Armatrading

If you liked Joan in the late 70's you will like this, fresh tunes, raw simple acoustic backing, really nice. OK so I'm a fan from the start and as a result will listen to any of her albums, but I always prefer the sound of the earlier stuff, now we have a 2010 release that equals those and hopefully a new generation will enjoy too. The title track is gentle, lilting, the albums songs as a whole are a great balance showcasing all the best Armatrading characteristics from quiet contemplative, catchy chorus, female blues and even a bit like lively rock. Certainly worth making space on your personal player for.

  2.  Quality bit of kit

I've been looking round for a good MP3 player with (for me) a more secondary use for playing video. Hence I considered the small screen here to be "adequate" for my needs (my job allows frequent short breaks so dipping into an episode of Top Gear is fine but a full length movie isn't going to happen). I have to say I am more than impressed by the clarity and quality of picture this little gem provides (Though I shouldn't be complety surprised, after all Sony have a good name for quality and innovation). Anyway, enough of the video, I bought this mainly for listening... The menus are intuitive and quickly navigated, the provided headsets fit well and give (to me in my 40's) excellent sound quality. Bonus treats include, Easy drag and drop via USB (no itunes or other software rqrd) good integration with the BBC iPlayer for pod casts and also (yet to be trully tested by me) a nice menu item allowing the player to try and match the music to your mood. Finally, VFM - Value for money. Fantastic! A 16gb quality player for under a ton?
