Toshiba HD-EP35 HDMI Upscaling DVD Player With HD DVD High Definition Playback
This is an awesome player. This is worth buying even if you don't want HD-DVDs and just wanted an upscaling player for your existing DVDs.
Second best ever purchase, after my HD TV :-)
Toshiba HD-EP30 HDMI Upscaling DVD Player With HD DVD High Definition Playback (Includes 2 Free HD DVD Titles!)
Did you actually put an HD-DVD in? The difference is like night and day. I can only suggest your setup was incorrect.
If you only watched the free included film 300 then you will not see true HD, as the film had 'grain' added deliberately - as the Director intended.
Watching HD-DVDs like Transformers, The Bourne series, Batman Begins, Serenity, The Prestige etc offer a better picture than the cinema.
The picture is miles better, infact breathtaking with certains films.
Samsung BD-P1400 Blu-ray High Definition Player
I have a Blu-ray and HD-DVD player, but know what you are buying into (even with the recent Warner announcement). Sony has subjected profiles with their Blu-ray players. Whilst it is stated the film will still play across all profiles (although there is talk that they might not if advanced BD Java is used for the menus - they old players won't be able to handle it) you all need to know that certain things on your movie disk will not work if you don't have the right profile. Rather than keeping movie watching a simple affair they have now turned it into a constant upgrade process to watch your films. Just like graphics cards in PCs.
Everything I have stated can be backed up with your _own_ research using Google and Wikipedia.
