Fantastically written story which really gives you an insight into the cultural difficulties westernised Asian young people face in society today. A must read for anyone offering support to young people facing serious cultural issues such as forced marriage. After reading this book, I feel much more prepared to empathise with and offer support to girls in the same situation as Jasvinder. ******** FANTASTIC!!!********

This book has certainly made it into my top ten best reads. The story is set in 40's Ireland when pregnancy outside of wedlock was frowned upon. Throughout the book you meet many characters with different stories to tell. The book is well written and extremely emotional. The characters' stories & circumstances make you laugh and cry. Fantastic. I will definitely read this book again.

This book was a good read and did a great job of making a serious subject light hearted. There were some fairly explicit sections to the book too. I would definitely recommend this to none faint hearted readers. Towards the end it got a little repetitive. Overall a good read.

This book was well written, emotional and factual. It was genuinely scary at points and Joanne does a great job of enabling you identify with her feelings at that time of her life. The second half of the book is mostly set in the courtroom which I found really interesting.

working with young people with Aspergers syndrome, i thoroughly reccomend this book for all people who's life may be affected directly or indirectly by this condition. Haddon paints a realistic and easy to understand insight into the thoughts and feelings of someone with Aspergers. Make sure you allow plenty of time when first opening this book - You will NOT be able to put it down!! Fabulous and a must have read.

Brilliant. With each of her new books, i have anticpiated disappointment or repetition from her previous books. Despite the storyline of all her books being similar, she never fails to paint a vivid, emotional picture of all her characters. The best so far - Couldn't put it down! Fantastic.
