  1.  Nick by the numbers

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds was always really Nick Cave & Blixa Bargeld. Now Blixa is off hitting bits of old panzer in Berlin with Einsturzende Neubaten & without him its just not up to scratch. Cave can get it on without his chums without a doubt, the Grinderman album shows that: but Blixa & Cave were the counterpoint to eachother that made the best of the Seeds the best. And this is not the best. Not bad, but come back Blixa!

     Kick those Baboons out!

Mr Cave sloughs off middle age, his dabbling in religion & cuddling up to Kylie with his best work since "Tender Prey". It is almost a return to his 'Birthday Party' days, but with mature articulation in the passion. Superior indeed to his latest Bad Seed's effort 'Dig Lazurus Dig' Mr Cave resurrects himself in this fine bit of craft.

  3.  Hard Hitting Tofu

These "Vegetarian Liberal white guys" can rock a beat. Their in your face personal agenda which dictates the tone of the whole record can be over the top but the sound bite confrontations with a live audience can be worth it. The Anti Bush rhetoric, although aimed at the first President of that name, still has a resonance today for some reason.... Powerful if preachy.

  4.  Mixed Ethnic Cool

Before Michael Franti went all ganja, he celebrated his mixed gene pool in this powerful no holds barred collection of hip hop techno beats mixed with lyrics that have something to say yet to today's audience. Every track a good 'un!
