  1.  What CoD MoD Should Be !

    If you enjoy a thoroughly enjoyable FPS, then this is the game for you. But dont anything really different from it, as it is call of duty after all.

    Im going to be honest, I really didnt have high expectations for this game, usually would watch all the build-up trailers, gameplay etc, and with infinity ward leaving (the modern warfare dev. team), I thought it was over before it began.

    I think this is what made the game so dam good for me.
    You pick up where modern warfare 1 & 2 ended. For those who havent played the series before (which I guess most have), they have a very good way of catching you up to speed with what you have missed. All those who completed the previous games will feel right at home.

    Right from the word go, you will be thrown right into the action scenes, its almost overwhelming the amount of detail they have put into the environment to make it feel real, seeing some landmarks in their situation almost hits home its just that real.
    There is no denying that the game is looking better than it ever has, and really runs smooth on max settings. Although throughout the game you are kept on a linear path, you more often than not have the choice to flank, stealth or just go all guns blazing to get the job done.

    I honestly believe this might be the best call of duty since the MW series started, the story is phenomenal (best so far in my opinion), guns have never sounded so real, graphics are a thing of beauty and the gameplay couldnt be better.

    All this coming from a BF fan, I know, it was a shock for me too haha

    As if the story alone wasnt worth the 40 pound price tag, it wouldnt be a call of duty game if it didnt have MP. I was quite worried to see how this was going to turn out, really was hoping it wasnt like black ops, but it wasnt. A lot of people criticize it for being like Cod MoD 2, but apart from the online graphics, they must be playing a different game. It runs smoother, more guns, equipment, weapon skill level system, A LOT more balanced speciality system (assault, support and recon I believe), and quite a few more it, really pulls it apart from its predecessors. You cant expect more from a series to be fair.

    The only reason Im giving it a 4 star is because even though the MP and the campaign are great, its still just another COD game, sad to say but the series has gone on for a long time, we have come to expect these great things from a series so big. It has lost some of its wow factors. (Although the campaign does have some brilliant moments)

    All in all, if youre a BF fan boy or cod, or just looking for a good shooter I highly recommend purchasing this game, completely worth the price tag.

    This is a game all FPS fans should have!

    I thought i had given up on writing reviews for games, but i feel with this one i should come out and write one more.

    now first of all i think i should mention that i have been a big world of warcraft fan from the begining, and i dont usually go out of my way to try a different mmo, but since so much has changed in that game recently and i heard so much hype about this "rift" game that was due to be released... i went and downloaded the BETA.

    I understand that it is still in the stages of progress and development, but in a way it kind of makes it that much more exciting !! .. i mean its epic, its what wow used to be, and what they should go back to. its got somethings like 66 classes to choose from and they have managed to make the pvp spot on, where as world of warcraft is managing to mess up the balance with about 6 clases (i.e. warrior, mage)
    Its not just the pvp that is good, the world events are actually amazing, with so many people coming to do them you almost get a tear come to your eye when you see the vast amount of people around you trying to save the game world from the "Rifts", i personally am going to pre-order this product in the hope that it gets as big as wow... as it deserves to be.

    i would go on , but the GF is nagging me to watch CSI.. so im going to make this short, its a brilliant game and well worth the money if you too are having a bad time with some other mmos.

    10 out of 10 for everything.

  5.  James Bond Review - "Boring... Very Boring"

    At first I thought, ah finally a new James Bond game coming again, let's see if they have managed to beat the classic "James Bond - Golden eye", sadly, once again, they have failed... and maybe this time they have done it worse than ever.

    This game will jump you straight in to the middle of the fight, where "Casino Royal" left of, and all I can say is, oh my god... what a disappointment, I could not help but notice how bad the graphics actually looked, the cars in the cinematic's just seemed to slide against the floor, almost something you could imagine seeing from the play station 1, not from a next gen console. James Bond him self looks half decent, but very shiny at the same time, along with the other character models in the game, which bored me to death with the way they only have 1 death animation, which looked like something from halo 3 (not saying that's a bad thing, just not suited for this game). The environment in this game was said to be completely destructible, but I honestly had a hard time finding a piece of wall to blow off or anything to brake, apart from the occasional glass panel.

    Now lets be honest, everyone of us wants to be James Bond for at least one day, so we can have a go at the cool gadgets, guns and cars, well we know for the very most of us it wont happen... and you will not get any of them in this game. You have very standard guns, such as a pistol, machine gun and a shotgun (which looks terrible), with pretty much the exception of the pistols looking good.

    This game seemed to be described as a FPS, and most of the time you will be taking the back seat to, and jumping into a third person shooter, which I found really annoying at most points, this happens because of the duck and cover system, which works in all fairness... but you will rarely ever shoot someone from the first person angle, as you get changed to third person when ever you cover, and if you don't cover... then you will die.

    Don't get me wrong this game had some exciting scenes from the movies, which gets your adrenalin rushing, but for the most part it doesn't make sense, it just seems to stick you in missions that aren't in the game, and you do not get anything that links the story together beside the database telling you throughout the loading points, and its literally just someone speaking to you, its hard to care about the story.

    This game, now like many others in the market, have incorporated real time events, which has you pressing buttons and the right time, to pull of the right moves... which in some parts of the game is quite good.
    but when it comes to the instant kills, which have you sneak up on an enemy, it gets very boring... and this is because they have, once again, not made enough animations for the deaths.

    The multiplayer is not going to change the way multiplayer is, its just average, with the very low variation of maps and modes, its hard to care about it.

    Now for the length of the game, it's short... Really short, I think I completed it in I think the first or second day I had it, and then got my money back. This game does not give you anything to re-play it for. With all the mindless achievements and the occasional door to be hacked, with simple ways to do it, this game is just not worth the £40.

    Considering its a James Bond game, you would think it would be amazing, and it could have been if it had more time spent on it. I feel as if it was rushed so it would be ready in time for the release of the film.

    I am not recommending this product as a purchase, maybe just a rental. If you want a truly amazing FPS I would advise such things as: Halo 3, Call of duty 4 or 5 and Gears Of War.

  6.  Fight Night Round 3 - Review - Is This Game A Knock Out ?

    To be honest I never thought about getting this game until the other day, and I only did because I thought it would have been a good laugh to play against some of the boys, but then I loaded the career mode and I was pleasantly surprised

    The game will start you off either creating or re making a legend, but I think I should mention you only have a limited number of personalisation features... so don't expect your character to resemble you in any way. You will then, like all other character creation games, you choose your attributes. Once all this is done you will jump straight into the fights earning money for new equipment (E.g. boxing gloves, shorts etc...) and the occasional training session that takes place once before every fight, but choose wisely as you can not re-do the training once its done.

    Once in the ring, you could fooled for watching an actual event... the graphics are that good, from the way the characters look to the sweat and blood that flows off you.

    Of course there is only so much you can do with a boxing game before it gets boring, but you can defiantly tell "EA Games" have tried their best to keep you in the fight for as long as possible

    The career mode is huge, with more fights than you will probably care to participate in, you won't run out of content any time soon.
    Now for the actual fights, they are great fun, you get an actual adrenaline rush when you are about to win a fight, or get knocked of your feet, this is especially fun when you are fighting a friend, it really does bring out the competitive side of you.
    One thing that seems to disappoint is the feeling that there is no power behind some of the players punches, which can really make a fight feel tedious, but as soon as you get a clean punch, it will look like you have just hit or been hit by a truck, there is nothing quite like it.

    This game is the best boxing game currently out, with none other quite reaching the standards. With that said, I can easily recommend this product as a purchase, even if you are a huge sports fan, or just enjoy beating down on your friend.

  7.  Dark Sector Review-"Will You Throw The Glaive Or The Game?"

    This is a game I have been keeping a close eye on since the development stages, I had high hopes for this game, but sadly I was disappointed.

    You start out as a special combat soldier, on the mission to eliminate the infected target, once you done this, like in any other game... its never that simple, you find yourself in a fight with an infected enemy which turns out to be your nemesis, which... well as you can imagine gives you the disease, its not an original story line.

    As the game continues your character will become more and more infected, which in turn leads to new power ups... and this is when the glaive comes in, the selling point of this game. Pretty much throughout the whole campaign the glaive will be your main focus using it to slice, dice and chop your way through the enemies, and there is more than just one type. In this game there are two sets of enemies, the soldiers and the infected... each venerable to different attacks. You would think with two different enemy types it would add variety and excitement to the game, but you would be wrong... I felt extremely bored with the enemy AI, especially the infected, they will charge at you in swarms just to get them self's burnt, electrified, sliced and frozen, this gets very repetitive. They have also incorporated environmental hazards to the game, which can be used to your advantage as mentioned earlier... for example you can throw your glaive into fire and then scorch your enemies, but this is only for a short period of time and fun for so long, and you cant help but get the impression that they copied the idea from "Bioshock". Bioshock is not the only game they have copied some ideas of, you will be able to tell if you have played such games as "Gears Of War" and "Resident Evil" that this game is not a totally original idea.

    Sure during the game you will gain some quite cool power ups, and little side puzzles (which are not at all challenging), but this can only take a game so far.

    Now for the environment, it's pretty much all the same being dull, dull and a bit duller... everything seems to be a grey, black or a brown, and there really is not any variety in levels. It feels like you are going in a massive circle; even though the game is not that long, you will really find your self grinding to the end.

    This game in theory sounds like it would be an amazing third person shooter, but put the theory to practice and it goes wrong.
    Even with all that said, there are some exciting moments in the game where you get to use the glaive to gather the soldiers weapons and then use their own technology against them, this does add excitement to the experience, along with the online multiplayer experience but you can tell this has not been their main focus, as there is not a wide variety in maps or modes, and can get boring very quick.

    Over all I would say it's hard to recommend as a purchase, but renting it could be worth it, but for now... until they improve it, I think its best to leave this game in the dark sector of the shop.

  8.  Fable 2 Review - "Who Will You Become"

    If you enjoy a thoroughly enjoyable role playing game, then this game is for you. But don't expect revolutions as promised.
    Starting of just like in fable 1 you are a young child but this time with a twist, you get to decide whether to be male or female.

    The adventure will start you of working and doing quests with your sister, which will then lead you on to the biggest new idea in the fable series, your faithful companion... your dog. This in most RPG's is a totally new idea and will change the concept of the game. The game will then proceed you through the childhood section and then dramatically put you forward in a plot changing scenario, this is where all your story will begin.

    Right from the word go you will be making your own personal decisions on how to do the given tasks, over time your character will be morphed into a reflection of who you truly are and the world will change with you, it will be different will each decision you make, the paths you choose will determine the outcome to the game.

    The many different styles of combat you can choose upon will defiantly appeal to a wide audience, and with the all new magic combat system, I think people might be tempted to venture to the more magical side of the game, but the option for the melee and ranged combat is still there, which has also been improved for those who like to come up close and personal with their enemies.

    There is no denying that this game is bursting at the seems with gorgeous scenery, some of the effects look so real at times, it almost feels like you are in the game, it is up to you if you dare to adventure the country side or roam the towns and markets to trade or to kill... its entirely up to you. How you decide to deal with the people you meet, has a big impact on the citizens in the world, so if your going for the hero type I would recommend keeping killing innocents to a minimum, or if you want to strike fear into the eyes of the people that see you, well... going on a killing spree is always fun. Being a hero and a villain makes it feel as if they are totally different worlds, people will admire you if you are a hero, worshiping your very ground, but if you go down the evil path, people will run from you screaming, and you may get the occasional abuse thrown at you.

    This game is huge, and with all the content trying to come out, you can be assured you will always have something to do, and to back this up there is tons of achievements to do... also a few legendary items to be found from Fable 1 for the dedicated players.

    As if all that isn't enough, there is the new co-op game play which brings a whole new aspect to the game, you can join or have someone join you at any point of the campaign to help you complete it, even if they are powerful, the AI will adapt and find a balanced difficulty setting so it never gets too easy for you. There is always a challenge in Fable 2.

    Although even with all the positives I am giving this a 4 star because, it still is not pushing the boundaries of game play, its still basic for RPGs, there is nothing new... apart from the dog, but apart from that you get what you would expect in most RPG's even if they are not up to fable standard, and the most disappointing fact is that the main story line is not that long. It can be done in several hours of play. But the amount of side quests and other activities makes up for this.

    This is a game all RPG fans should have !

  9.  Bioshock Review - This game is an absolute must have !!

    When I first thought about getting this game I was 50/50, I didn't know what to expect.
    Although, it was then recommended by a friend, so I thought I would give it a try.
    I'm glad I did! It's been worth every penny, and I had no regrets.
    I have enjoyed every part of this game, from the very first kill to the very last machine to be hacked.
    The game will have you start out in a well thought out under water city called "Rapture", with the thought of "no gods, no kings" in mind.
    You get the impression that there are no rules here; you do not know what to expect. The game insists that you take the time to find unnecessary items, this is mostly optional, but if you have the patience to find them, you will benefit from it, and trust me... when it comes to the tougher enemies in the game, E.g. "Big Daddies", you are going to wish you set aside the time to find them, They also add a lot of longevity to the game, along with achievements, and there are a lot of them. In this game unlike most others, when you accomplish them, you get an actual sense of achievement; this makes the game a lot more enjoyable and makes you keep playing until you have got the very last one.
    Although I felt that the down side of this game is that you do not get the option of online multiplayer, this I thought would be a huge knock back, but somehow its not...
    The shear size of Rapture makes up for it, you will love using your body, mind, iron and machines in this thoroughly enjoyable action adventure game.
    It is truly in a league of its own.
    With no other games like it I highly recommend "Bioshock".
