Cheesy no offence but you have no idea what your talking about, blu-ray is here to stay my friend and well win the battle...
Blu-ray has been met with much criticism since the release of the Samsung BD-P1000. Much finger pointing was done. Blame fell upon the player, the software, Sony, Samsung...everyone under the sun was being blamed for this "false start" in the race to dominate the HD disc market. In the end, Samsung built a machine that played its main format very well. While currently there is no other available Blu-ray player, we are unable to gauge how well it plays. However i can say with confidence that this thing will give you an experience you've never had with standard definition DVD and broadcast HDTV.
Remember guys Blu-ray is still young, and I'm sure we can expect great things from the format. 50 Gigabyte Dual Layer discs have still yet to be released and more advanced video and audio codecs are still yet to be utilized. If the Samsung BD-P1000 is already capable of this kind of quality now, I can't wait to see what it can do when all these other things come to surface!
While the player is still a little pricey £999 from argos and various other retailers im happy to see that PLAY have lowered the price well done play.com for dropping the price an amazing £500 off, anyway back to the BD-P1000 has made me once again fall in love with high definition films. And it has turned me from "sitting on the fence" during this format war to actively (and financially) supporting both Blu-ray and HD-DVD. After all, the only way we can guarantee the success of either format is buying their products.
Pros :
Incredible picture quality
Mind-blowing sound quality
Connections for nearly any audio/video configuration
Familiar navigation menus
Pretty Blue lights lol
Cons:
Poor downscaling to 720p (and sometimes 1080i)
Slow startup and content access speed
Mildly irresponsive remote control
No 7.1 analogue outputs
No "pillar-box" for 4:3 content
all in all this is a great product i only wish i purchased mine from PLAY.COM as i would of saved myself nearly £500, so if you guys want this player i suggest you purchase it from play.com as the price is spot on.
oh if your confused about hd and blu-ray remember guys there will be players available eventually that will support both blu-ray and hd so if you can wait a year or 2 then do so.
