  1.  Like a fast paced version of Harrison Fords Frantic*****!!!!

    Posted:

I have recently purchased this DVD & found it very impressive, for the following reason I usually watch DVDs at night, for which this one is perfect for, night viewing, & I have an habit, which some of us do of dozing off to sleep, but this action packed thriller kept me on the edge of my seat & stopped me from dozing off for the full duration of this film but as the above title says: with most of the action taking place in Paris France it seemed to be very similar to Harrison Fords Frantic but with the father/daughter scenario as opposed to the husband/wife. I also enjoyed the Liam Neeson character showing absolutely no mercy standing in the way of freeing his daughter, which made this film, most watchable & I am not really a big fan of Neeson but with this he made this film altogether so enjoy & giving it 5 star rating*****!!!!!

  2.  Adult version of the 80's Tales of the Unexpected***!

The Hunger, a spin of to the film with Susan Sarandon, Catherine Denueve & David Bowie, who does the host part for Season 2, is very similar to a 1980's Tales Of The Unexpected, but an adult version of it, if you see what I mean. The pilot, which had a bit of foul language, takes place in London & stars from Inspector Morse Amanda Ryan from The Daughters of Cain episode, a very attractive short black hair, very sexy with it as well, you also see her topless, as a bonus, but as Season 1 goes on, the foul language seems to go down, less of it, but the acting is not too bad, even at times it seems a bit tacky, James Bonds Daniel Craig, even turns up in episode 2, it also goes around the world to various capitals as well as London, we also have Paris, New York & Berlin but towards the end of Season 1, stays mainly in the States. Narrated by Terence Stamp & like Tales, mentioned before the endings to each 27 minute episode comes with an unexpected twist, enjoyable if you enjoyed the film with some basic erotic, but not really sexy undertones, giving this a 3 star*** rating & for Amanda Ryans performance 5 stars***** cor!!!, hope she's reading this, nuff said.

  4.  By the track listing should be a very good box set*****!

Going through this singles box set, the track listing should make this a most excellent buy hopefully the price will come down in time, what I am really looking forward to is the dub version of Undercover of the night, available here on CD, for the very first time, along with 80 other tracks, for the first time on CD format, with information booklet, but the catch again is the price of this item but for the item itself I would give a 5 star***** rating, well worth buying.

  5.  Back when they made films with NO CGI.

These are the complete set of the classic, & I mean classic, Black & White Ealing films, with excellent plots/storylines, ones to WATCH are The man in the white suit, Kind hearts & coronets, The Lavender Hill Mob, well all of them really, & absolute NO CGI whatsoever, when they knew how to make films 5***** stars!!!!!

  6.  What a daft idea here's why?

What is the point of a pair of Detective Gardeners?, have you heard of anything so DAFT, in all your life, which is far too SHORT, for watching this serial, what next a Batman & Tarzan film, avoid 1 star* & that's being generous.

  7.  Brilliant detective drama, but gets shorter as Seasons go on

Trial & Retribution, started off more like A touch of Frost with 7, 3 hour long episodes, which made for excellent stunning drama. as even Prime Suspect, when that started was a very similar format with mainly 3 hour long episodes, Kate Buffery appears in Seasons 1 & 2, then replaced by Victoria Smurfit, from Season 3. The shorter episodes, from this & the time lengths it does seem to suffer, not that much suspense & David "Satch" Satchell, seems to come over all stupid, for some unknown reason, but the stories still keep their high standards, you will also notice people that have also appeared in Kavanagh QC, A Touch of Frost & Prime Suspect, but like I say I preferred the earlier, longer stories, as they had much more suspense, about them, with this most excellent drama, now in one big box set, which I would say is definitely worth buying & worthy of my 4**** star rating!!!!

  8.  Keeley Hawes spoils it, Season 3 what's that all about eh!!!

Some people must have had high hopes from the follow up to the great Life On Mars, but that SADLY, has not been the case this was indeed a pretty bad serial & what spoiled it was the main female character, Season 1 kick off fairly well, with some good storylines, but 21st Century London, covering for the 1980's, was not really going to work was it, with the Millenium Dome popping up. Season 2 carried on from where Season 1 with the addition of another time traveller, played by Adrian Dunbar, whom terrorises the female lead, towards the end of Season 2, but ends up in a coma, still in the 80's, which leads us on to Season 3 which creates more questions than answers when it comes to the mystery of what really happened to Sam Tyler, another annoying character turns up with the introduction of Danny Mays DCI Jim Keats, who goes up against Phillip Glenister Gene Hunt's character, when solving particular crimes, which really did not add up, silly plots that do not make any sense whatsoever & generally really odd which made the ending of this serial not making sense as The Talking Heads may sing about. I felt the Phillip Glenister Gene Hunt character had lost a lot of interest during the making of Ashes to Ashes & was just waiting for it all to end, as I were, waiting for his payday/retirement with the usual PC nonesense, starting to come in & through it spoiling, that word again, what could have been an excellent follow up to Life on Mars, with this hence my 2 star avoid rating**!!

  9.  Like a cross between Monk & Cagney & Lacey!!!!!!!

    Posted:

Watching The Mentalist you will find that the main character is lijke a cross between Monk, with a bit of Kojak, where unlike Monk reads Crime Scenes, The Mentalist Patrick Jane reads the People & is like Kojak, from the 70's, where he can be quite insulting to the suspect, as well as being very sharp & witty, through this reading the suspects reactions, as to solve the crime. We also have Lisbon, the mother hen type to the group & the boss the Cagney part, Rigsby the emotional detective, who has a thing for Van Pelt, the Lacey part, sauve & beautiful/intelligent with it, the last of the group being Cho, an oriental, very cool & to the point, like The Mentalist. Over the 2 series you will find excellent plots, with the Red John storyline, which The Mentalist is involved, running throughout, & intimate involvements between Rigsby & Van Pelt with Simon Baker, an Australian, playing an excellent part, which is why I have given this 2 part series a 5***** star rating, hope you enjoy & I look forward Series 3.

  10.  Seasons 6-9, high standards then** rating.

Season 6 started off, in my opinion, up to the high standards of 1-5, then from Season 10-15, it seemed to me that David Jason, an excellent actor, went into Del Boy mode for some strange reason with the storylines suffering also, Seasons 7-9 are 3, 2 & a half hour films, with the rest except Season 15 also being 2 & a half hours, around the 90 minute mark which is why I am giving a 3*** star rating as it suffered towards the end of this great serial.
