  1.  Absolutely fantastic drama

This is one of the most entertaining and well acted dramas that has been on the tv recently. A special mention must be given to the main characters but in particular Sarah Lancashire who seems to improve, like a fine wine, with age. We were spellbound with each episode and thoroughly recommend this well written and produced drama. It was superb. Buy it and enjoy.

  2.  Oh dear!

Hmmm, I thought that it may be up to the previous Morgan Freeman quality playing the same character. How disappointing, both story and general acting grim. Couldn't stay with it to the end. Another waste of money!

  3.  Excellent and enjoyable

At last, an extremely enjoyable film. The acting is great, nice human story and the period feel spot on. I would thoroughly recommend this film (and I don't say that very often these days)!

  4.  Disappointed

Sorry, having read the favourable reviews, but I found the film extremely disappointing and the plot ludicrous. It started well but then sunk as the situations became totally implaudable. Some of the acting was also a little"wooden" and those who deserved it did actually 'die' on screen. Overall a waste of money (and I haven't met anyone who enjoyed it so it's not just me).

  5.  Truly outstanding and utterly moving.

One of the most beautiful and emotional films I have ever watched. I would recommend this film irrespective of your opinions about war (although it isn't a 'war' film). The journey home for this poor dead soldier carries the film but the most moving aspect of it is the respect shown by everyone who witnesses it. An excellent piece of cinema.

  6.  Disappointed

Anticipated an "action packed thriller" (that's how it was described). Found the reality to be a slow moving and confusing film. What was Tom Wilkinson up to? Switched off half way through totally baffled. Another movie not living up to its professional reviews...unfortunately they pursued me to buy them. I never seem to learn!
