  1.  1,2,3 Steps Above Undisputed - mixed martial arts is here...

    Posted:

DEMO - At first it took a while to shrug off the control mind-set of Undisputed... but once I had I immediately realised how much better the control system for MMA is in comparrison to the overly complicated and WWE like configuration of Undisputed. MMA is a lot more realistic in every aspect and a hell of a lot more exciting... I've played countless matches and have only managed one clean KO, a perfectly executed flying Knee...

Playing with a friend is where it really stood out - Undisputed two player was fun but was somewhat stilted and didn't quite deliver the final punch you wanted, and with a guaranteed KO every fight, it was all too predictable. Now MMA is seriously BRUTAL, cuts usually don't appear 'til midway through the second round unless you've landed that early killer punch - it's the ground n' pound that's extremely satisfying, you really do beat the hell out of the guy lying on the canvas, and when that guy is your buddy, it's just that more pleasurable! As I've mentioned before the 'standing' KOs are a lot more scarce so when they happen, it's a real treat!

While it may not have all the names you associate with the MMA sport, think of it as a time to enjoy creating your own character and using him without feeling that your missing out from not using all the other existing fighters.

Originally being a fan of Undisputed, when I heard EA were getting in on the MMA scene I just knew they'd deliver and from what I have seen so far, It looks like they might have just done that! Got high hopes for this... Spend some time on the demo, figure it all out and you'll soon turn your back on UFC, this just offers a much more fluid, simpler control system with extremely detailed body damage - if you go the rounds the blood just keeps coming!

  3.  Controls in the Dark

After a two hour stint of playing AITD I came to a dilema, you see the game itself looks outstanding and the story terrorfying but in order to experience this I have to use the controls...and thats scariest thing about this game. They are horrible, never have I wanted to continue playing a game so bad but just found it impossible to do so because of the hindering mess that is AITD control scheme...its like playing Fight Night 3 with your eyes closed. You will literally run away from the baddies not because your scared of them but the horrific thought of having to do more than walk around and jump.

When you begin the game in all its beauty and drool at the brilliant set pieces, you will first forgive but never forget...
