Lucy Kaplansky - CD
16 New from
Fabulous - although I recommend to get the best of Lucy, you need to see her live. Her concerts are intimate and exceptional. Usually Oct/Nov.
Sam Baker - CD
20 New from
If Sam's previous albums Mercy and Pretty World are anything to go by - this should be equally as good.
I saw Sam live a couple of years ago (supporting Lucy Kaplansky at The Bury Met') - it left me entranced!
A really nice guy with a valid message - we are so lucky to be alive, feel the music, play the music!
Name A Star Gift Box Set
Gifts & Gadgets

I was browsing through the gifts list last year when I came across this. I read the review 'Something to leave behind - a Legacy' and was so overwhelmed that I emailed all of my friends and family as to how beautiful this was and the perfect gift. I lost my Mum 6 years ago and thought it amazingly fitting and somthing very special to be able to look up to the stars and imagine she was looking down at me (or at least a star named after her - something I could identify with when I looked into the stars). Whenever I see fireworks, I cry, because my Mum loved them so much and it was wonderful to have family get togethers where we would watch them. After she died, we raised £7000 in her name towards Cancer charites and the weekend was completed with fireworks shooting into the night sky. I had a lump in my throat when I looked up and thought of her.Last Christmas, I received this gift from my Partner and Husband to be. He was unaware of the email I had sent and yet he thought it was the perfect gift for me. He was not so suprised when I was filled with emotion and said I wanted to name it after my Mum (Pamela Fitzgerald nee Gennis).
This is truly a Legacy to leave behind and a lovely story to tell your Children and Grandchildren. A hard gift to beat, I think.

My daughter (23 months) attends a pre-school where I help out and they have this book (an Usborne Preschool Activity Book).
Watching the children put together the simple but magical projects in this book made me feel so unbelievably in love with Christmas and what it is (for me) all about in the eyes of a child. The projects are so very simple to do and the book takes you through them step by step, with coloured illustrations.I could fill my house at Christmas with the creations made by my little girl - the more the merrier.Lots of paint, glitter, paper folding, shiny stars and other easy to find craft items make the projects so much fun to do.Bring back Christmas as it should be and share fabulous times making fabulous projects you will be proud to display.
Smash Hits Party (4CD)
Various - CD
1 New from
I feel like my teens have just been resurected! This has most of the songs that symbolise the 80's. For 4 CD's this is excellent value. I shall lock myself in the study and let the kids look after themselves for a few hours. They can play on the Wii, lol! I just need a copy of Smash Hits to read now and a few posters for my bedroom wall, lol. I don't think you could get yourself a compilation like this for such good value. It is a high on my Christmas list.

Status Quo - CD
9 New from
I was shocked when my hip and trendy nephew of 16 years said he wanted this for Christmas - was expecting him to say Snow Patrol, Razorlight or Coldplay. But he loves Status Quo and has seen them live! I ordered this (the cd and dvd) as it is such good value for the 2. The CD seems similar to XS all Areas, but when bought with the DVD you are getting good value for money. And, as he isn't expecting the DVD also, I reckon he'll be chuffed. Still rockin and even puling in the youngsters, so can't be all that bad!
"In the Night Garden" Little Library

These books come in a compact box and are handy to take out with you. They are not story books, but instead each of the mini books has pictures of the characters (i.e. a book for Upsy Daisy, a book for the Tombliboos, etc.). Be careful though if your children are very young as they are tasty - my daughter used to nibble on them :o)
They are about the same price in the shops, but you can buy them here with free postage, as and when you need them (instead of trying to source them or feeling you should buy several items when you see them to save time or petrol costs).
This is, like 'all of the books' in the series is a fabulous buy.
My little girl is not even 2 years old and fell in love with the In the Night Garden series ever since she started watching it from about 6 months old. She can sing all of the songs and recognises the characters.
She happily sits and reads the books and points out the characters and remembers the words (as they relate to the rhymes and songs that are familiar in the tv programme).
The books, dvd's and toys in theis series are all pretty good value as children relate to them and love them.
A great way to help your children learn through play and become familiar with books and reading. Also lovely storylines.
In The Night Garden - Hello Everybody! (4 Discs)

I have the the first 2 of this set of 4 and they cost around £9.99 each. It wold even be worth me buying the set again, to get the last 2 for less. So a fabulous bargain for all 4!!
The dvd's have 5 episodes each on them related to the character listed mainly (and obviously all the other characters). There are also special features: Nap Mode - which when you select an individual episode and select this option, leaves Iggle Piggle in his boat on the sea moving and no music, so they fal off to sleep; Time to Go to Sleep - click on the characters and they each say goodnight; Audio Commentary - with Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport.
All of the board books are worth buying:
The Happy Waving Game
I have seen this (story book 4) and all of the 'story' series in good book shops. There about 8 of this type. They are not like the bigger hardbacked books (also available in the series), but are intented to buy as a complete set and continue a storyline and therefore reasonably priced.
