  1.  Isaac is back!!!

    Posted:

Being a huge Dead Space fan, I have played both the previous games to bits, the original one being completed 100%, so I know the franchise very well.
Gameplay wise i was not so keen on the more action orientated approach of 2, and even more so the 3rd game but I had to buy this anyways as a fan.
What I have seen so far, and im about halfway through first completion, is another cracking addition to the series.
Yes, it is defo more action than the first but not too over the top.
The crucial thing is the atmosphere, and its here in droves, its not quite the balls out horror of the first but the scares are there and there are some AMAZING set pieces, the game starts off brill and never lets up, the opening prologue was ace, graphically its a new high point for the series.
Sound design is always a strong point and it shines here, the music is amazing and has a real Alien feel to it with the fading/echoey string sections, also I love the reverb on the clanking metal or bangs and creaks as you enter some rooms.
What I love is the continuity of the series, they all look related, as they should, and feel linked which can only help the story, which I like so far!!!
Overall, this is a great title, yes I wish thay would do a pure survival horror like DS1, but for now this will do.
If u like the DS series than go buy this, for me it makes up for the huge disappointment I felt when I bought Aliens Colonial Marines only to discover a good but not great game.

  2.  "Not Bad, for a human"

Got my Xbox 360 pre-order copy on Saturday and have had a good blast, admittedly I'm a huge Alien franchise fan so i spent much of the first hour just wandering around and looking at the Sulaco scenery, it was awesome looking at the freezers, the loading bay, the weapon racks, the mess hall, the floor plates the Queen moved to get Newt etc, etc, etc, all the details are there. It all started off really good and things only got better once you reach Hadley's Hope, the details, lighting, sounds etc are all excellent......really gives you the proper Aliens vibe, its the closest we can get to going back in time and walking round the sets!!!!!!
It's not all good though unfortunately, the actual Xenos themselves have not been given the presence they deserve, you can melee them with your gun for goodness sake!!!!! Yes it's a game, but come on, in reality if they existed in the form depicted in the films you might as well hit your gun butt off a wall!!! Secondly they go down too easy, especially in comparison to the armoured Weyland humans, one good shotgun blast takes down an Alien but the bloody humans take 5-6 good shots!!!!
The animation is a bit wooden too, and they do tend to home right in on you and not your fellow marines.
From what I have seen so far it's a solid if not brilliant rendition of the Aliens universe, Gearbox have now become a developer i will be wary of as I got this and Duke Nukem, both not quite hitting the mark, truth be told I should probably have waited for the inevitable price drop however as a true fan, that was not going to happen.
I would give it a whirl if like me you like your Xenos!!

  3.  You get what you pay for..............

..........like most things in life if you want quality they you have to pay for it.
I took a chance with this one and whilst it emulates dvd controls etc ok and size wise its nice and small its the responsivness of the buttons or LACK OF thats a killer, the remote feels very cheap and you have to press down about 5 tons of pressure on the 'buttons' and be about 3 inches away from the bleeding PS3 for it to register the action!!!!
Very frustrating and NOT worth the cash, save for the official remote instead its a dream compared to this!!!!!!

  4.  WOW!!!!!!!!!

Ok, im a sucker for new technology, and this has it in abundance!!!!!
Opening the box you get a sexy machine indeed, it is a lot bigger than the PSP although slightly lighter!!!!
Control wise it is perfect, why oh why has it taken all these years to get 2 analogue sticks!!!!!, a lot of thought has gone into the design of this beauty and it shows.
The biggest draw has to be the screen, the 5" OLED screen makes it all super, super pin sharp and an absolute joy to watch games or movies in motion, it is bright and packed with detail.
Sound wise you get a surprising punch from the dual located speakers.
Right off from the bat you can jump into the PSN store and download a shed loada demo's and apps to try, well worth it.

Everything from its big brother is here, unlike when i bought my 3DS and knew straight away i had made a mistake, this is different, im SO happy i bought it, and even more impressed on the quality of titles im seeing, especially so early on in its development cycle.
If i could give it 6 stars i would.
    Buy it!!!!!

  5.  Rrrrrridddgggeeee Raaaacceeeerrr!!!!

Well i looked forward to this one as Ridge Racer has a history with the PS brand and has become a bit of a system launcher, i got the first one with my PS1, now this.
All i can say is it does not deserve the beating it has been getting from reviews.
The graphics are great, absolutely spot on for the R/Racer universe, packed with charm and detail, for my money it looks as nice as the full blown PS3 version, on a smaller screen the 5" OLED screen makes it all super sharp and an absolute joy to watch in motion.

The sound is also spot on with some good trance/techno music tracks and cool fx.
Controls are actually better than i first thought they would be, just remember and suspend belief, this is not a sim, it is pure racing fun......all about drifting sideways round a corner at ridiculous speeds!!!!.
Everything from its big brother is here, well impressed especially so early on in its development cycle.
    Buy it!!!!!

  6.  Not as bad as you think!!!!

    Posted:

Well i approached this one with caution, but, im impressed.

The graphics are very good, definately a step up from my ipad and ipod, there are loadsa fx such as lens flare and blur and plently of trackside detail and on a smaller screen the 5" OLED screen makes it all super sharp and an absolute joy to watch in motion.

The sound is also spot on with some great rocking trance/techno music tracks and cool fx and speech.

Controls are where it has the huge imporvement over its ipad cousins, cant beat physical sticks as opposed to a touch screen only..
Well impressed especially so early on in its development cycle.

    Buy it!!!!!

  7.  Everybodys gotta try it!!!!!

    Posted:

Well i looked forward to this as the Everybodys Golf series has been with me through my PS1, PSP and PS3 years.
All i can say is FFOOUUURRRR!!!!!!.....well actually 5 stars!!!

The graphics are awesome, absolutely spot on, extremely colourful and cute and packed with fx/lens flare and detail, for my money it looks better than the full blown PS3 version, on a smaller screen the 5" OLED screen makes it all super sharp and an absolute joy to watch in motion.

The sound is also spot on with some typically cutesey music tracks and cool fx.

Controls are actually the same style as its PS3 brother, i stick with traditional as its kept me ok for years!

As said everything from its big brother is here, well impressed especially so early on in its development cycle.
    Buy it!!!!!

  8.  WIPED OUT!!!!!

Well i looked forward to this as Wipeout has become a bit of a system launcher, i got the first one with my PS1, then there was Pure on the PSP, now this.
All i can say is wow..........wow!!!!.............did i say wow???!!!!!
The graphics are awesome, absolutely spot on for the Wipeout universe, for my money it looks better than the full blown PS3 version, on a smaller screen the 5" OLED screen makes it all super sharp and an absolute joy to watch in motion.

The sound is also spot on with some great rocking trance music tracks and cool fx.
Controls are actually better than i first thought they would be.
Everything from its big brother is here, well impressed especially so early on in its development cycle.
    Buy it!!!!!

  9.  Actually......its GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

    Posted:

Well, i didn't have that high hopes for this as footy is a fiddly sport to emulate at the best of times on full grown consoles......i was wrong......this is great.

The controls are instantly accessable, especially if you are used to 'proper' controls.
The graphics are spot on, the walk outs, stadiums, players animations, pitches fx/shadows, everything is as you want it to be, but on a smaller screen, the 5" OLED screen makes it all super sharp and a joy to watch in motion.

The sound is also spot on with some great running commentary and music tracks.
Everything from its big brother is here, well impressed especially so early on in its development cycle.
    Buy it!!!!!

  10.  Stirred and not shaken!!!

    Posted:

I bought this as i am a keen Bond fan, and, i liked the last game Blood Stone which got in my opinion very unfairly treated.so i took the gamble.
    Anyway, onto GoldenEye itself.
I have not played the Wii remix but i fondly remember the original N64 version.
Graphically this is pretty good, not top notch as some of the textures are a little muted, but, definately solid, particularly single player with some lovely snow fx etc.
Sound is great with correct voices and some stirring Bond themes.
Control wise i was instantly at home as it mimics COD identically from the default setup so i was running around straight off the bat.
Playability is good in single player with some nicely twisted sections for those of us who remember the original.
Multiplayer was solid........i did have to wait a while as initially nobody was playing, eventually i got up to a 12 player deathmatch (conflict) which was great fun although it was very laggy.......i hope it was the servers.....and a patch fixes this as it got more and more jerky as more players joined, overall though a fun experience.......if it keeps alive.

My biggest fear with this game is the timing of its release..........why oh why have they released this the week between the 2 biggest FPS shooters of the year/ever!!!!!
Surely all thats going to happen is this remake will suffer community-wise which will in turn kill its shelf life......i hope this does not happen as its a defo worth while purchase overall.
Not quite a stellar title but a good solid Bond outting.
