  1.  Love him or hate him, this is Adam Sandler's best film!!

    Posted:

I know what you're all thinking. Adam Sandler - zany laughs, silly faces, slapstick humour. Well, you couldn't be more wrong. This film is a dark look at the life of one very unfortunate individual whose entire existance has been marred by the 'love' of his sisters. He just can't catch a break. One lonely night he calls a 'sex line', but doesn't find it too helpful.

The next day he finds himself the victim of credit card fraudsters (headed by the fantastic Philip Seymore Hoffman), as well as meeting the potential love of his life.

The journeys undertaken from this point onward range from the macarbre to the delightful. This film really is fantastic. The relationships are believeable and the acting is top class.

Adam Sandler puts in an amazing performance. Love him or hate him, you have to give him that!

I would highly recommend this film to anyone. At this price it is well worth extending your DVD collection that extra 10mm! To be honest, this would be worth it a twice the price!

  2.  The best RPG ever? I think it just might be!

Having been into gaming for many, many years I would like to think I know what I am talking about. When I saw the screenshots and in-game footage before this was released I thought Bethesda were onto a good thing! I bought the limited edition of this game and was very, very pleased with what I got. I paid £50 for my copy and it was well worth every penny.

Graphically this game is absolutely beautiful. The landscape is massive and objects in the distance look great. On a clear day (yes, the weather is true to life) you can see all across Cyrodil. Close up the detail is just as great. Blades of grass sway in the breeze and water ripples like nothing else I've seen in a game.

The storyline is engaging and filled with hopes of legacy, fame and fortune. But you don't have to do that at all. I spent the first few hours doing side quests, joining guilds and fighting creatures in caves. You can pretty much do whatever you want. Be a thief, assassin, vampire, pirate or whatever your heart desires.

The character creation can be confusing if you are new to the genre but there are plenty of forums that will help you when deciding on your character's traits.

At this price you would literally be crazy not to buy this game! Beware, however, as once you start you will find it difficult to stop! 400 hours later and I still find new challenges throughout the land!

  3.  WoW indeed! A truly addictive MMORPG

I have played a lot of MMORPG's in my time. From Earth and Beyond to Star Wars Galaxies - each one with its good and bad points.

I started playing this game on a guest account (10 days free from a friend), and became instantly hooked. There are many characters, skills and trades to choose from and the feeling of 'community' is very strong. The graphics are basic but good (nothing too fancy otherwise things would get slow!!!). The UI (user interface) is very easy to understand and you can get barrel loads of modifications which allow you to fully customise it to suit your needs. Also, the game sounds are very nice, with 'mood music' for walking and fighting.

However, if you are impatient - be warned! The game will take some getting used to and finding your way around is initially quite slow (until you learn the quickest routes around). So take it all in your stride and you will be fine.

This game is normally twice as expensive, so under £10 is a real bargain! You get 30 days of gametime within the purchase price and then it cost around £10 per month after that.

Personally I think that this is well worth the money, and if you don't like it you can always stop paying your subscription! If you like well though out games and making new friends (and new enemies) online then this is definitely for you!

  4.  Possibly the best Sci-Fi Western ever...

    Posted:

Sci-Fi Western you say? Yup, that's right. This is possibly one of the most adventurous TV shows ever made, perfectly mixing the cool gunslinging western style with well polished Sci-Fi visuals.

The series charts the adventures of the crew of the Serenity, an outdated ship perfect for brigands and smugglers. The stroylines are engaging and the mix of humour and adventure is cleverly done (one of Joss Wheadon's specialties).

At this price it is well worth buying, even if you are not particularly into Sci-Fi programs. It is sharp and witty and definately rates as one of the best programs I have seen to date.

If possible you should see this series before the film 'Serenity' as it sets the scene perfectly.

  5.  Space. The final frontier...

Whether youre a die-hard Star-Trek fan or just a lover of great RTS games you cant help but love this game. It takes you though all genres of the Star-Trek phenomenon with guest voices of all your favourite Captains.

The story begins in the Enterprise era and, although quite short, spans seamless through the full Star-Trek timeline. You will find yourself in control of a fleet of up to four ships, which you can purchase with your command points. Each type of ship has its pros and cons, ie. Cruisers pack a punch with firepower but are very slow, whereas the smaller ships will out manoeuvre most enemies vessels. Mixing and matching the different ships can be good fun.

Graphically the game is absolutely stunning. The ship models stay as true as possible to the original series. The sound caps off the whole feel of the game, with large explosions, photon torpedoes and phaser banks discharging left, right and centre.

For this price this game is an absolute must. Give it a go and see if you have what it takes to mix it with the best!

  6.  Like GTA? Try this...

    Posted:

Saints Row was the first GTA style game for the Xbox 360 and lived up to the hype. You begin your adventure by getting initiated into the Saints and make your way up through the ranks. You must earn respect to progress through the missions which makes sure you keep very active. Aside from the main story there are several other side missions you can do to earn extra respect (and a few Benjamins too!).

Graphically the game looks very good and the soundtrack accompanies it very well. The controls are easy to grasp and the online multiplayer can be fun (as long as your connection is fast).

Unfortunately it is no GTA-beater, but is the best gangster style RPG available on the 360 to date and, at this price, is well worth looking into.

So go grab your Gat and spill a forty to the curb... Peace!

  7.  A must have for the avid gamer!

Play & Charge, it's that simple. With this nifty piece of kit you will never have to worry about finding batteries for your wireless controller ever again! Simply attach the rechargeable pack to the controller, give it some charge (a couple of hours until it's fully charged) and away you go! Will save you a packet in batteries in the long run too!
