I ordered the X52 about a month ago now, the first delivery, although quick, as usual from play.com was incomplete. The PS2 cable required to connect the throttle and joystick was missing, so having sent that one back i was eagerly awaiting the arrival of my replacement. When it arrived a week later I quickly wired it up to my PC and awaited the results. The blue MFD and highlighted buttons makes you want to turn of the lights and bathe in the joysticks glowing light.
With almost 40 buttons on the control then the option to have three different modes as well as a 'pinkie' mode to double up the buttons provides about 240 buttons. The software that comes with the product allows the joystick to 'pretend' to act on the keyboard. For example, on flight simulator when G is pressed to lower the gear, a joystick can be programmed to act as the 'G' key.
The safe fire cover is a great, and realistic, feature however, due to the characteristics of FS, it's not really usable in that way.
The grip on the throttle providing a certain amount of tension for afterburner and flight idle is a brilliant, realistic feature.
Overall I'd say that the X52 is a brilliant peice of periphal and a great deal for £85.
