  1.  This is the Best Capture Card I ever bought

    Posted:

I do a lot of research before I buy something expensive, such as this HD TV Capture Card, by looking at reviews, technical information and any issues through forums.

While I was doing my research I saw very good reviews about the Hauppauge HD PVR.

At the time, I bought mine for £199.99, but I tell you that its the Best TV Capture card I ever bought (No Regrets).

However, this card doesnt have freeview, since its best feature is to View/Capture from HD Component, Composite or S-Video Sources.

I use AMD Quad Core CPU 2.7GHZ HTPC running Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and the Hauppauge HD PVR doesnt even use the CPU resources while recording at its full HD 1080i.

On my low end laptop running AMD Dual Core running vista Ultimate 32-bit, I can only play 720p videos and not 1080i, but since this recorder doesnt even use the CPU resources while recording, it also allows me to record at its full HD 1080i on my laptop with (No Crashes and No Frame Drops).

For the record, videos also recorded on my low end laptop at 720p or 1080i, play absolutely fine on my HTPC, again with (No Crashes and No Frame Drops) absolutely smooth.

On my HTPC and my Laptop, I am able to record videos for HOURS, with (No Crashes and No Frame Drops).

Bear in mind that if you use ANY TV Capture Card, there will always be a file size limitation if you use FAT, FAT16 and FAT32 File Systems, as FAT32 has a limitation of 4GB max file size, FAT and FAT16 are worse, therefore causing your recordings to crash and rendering the file unplayable, when it reaches the 4GB file size limit.

For the best recording, make sure you use NTFS File Systems, as the only File Size Limit is the Partition Size, so if you have a 500GB HDD with a single partition using 30GB for the O/S and Programs, then you can use the remaining of the 500GB for a single recording file size (Not that you would want to do that!) but hey thats how good NTFS File System is.

Overall this Hauppauge HD PVR Capture Card is the Best of the Best against the competition and its price.

Thanks to Play.com for the opportunity to provide this Review, and since Play.com provides Free Delivery with this Product, there is simply no other better for value offer than purchasing the item here.

    Absolutely Superb.

  2.  Doesnt work on vista 64-bit

Its a very impressive card alright, but unfortunately it doesnt work on 64-bit Operating Systems as there are no drivers available for 64-bit, only for 32-bit.
So I rate this card 2 stars, since now a days 32-bit systems are mostly low end PC's.
