As this was written by Julia Davis and set in the early 19th century I knew I had to see/own it, but the few clips I watched online made me hesitant as the show came off as a bit over-the-top silly. Still, I went ahead and ordered it and I am so glad I did.
I fell in love with the style, language, atmosphere, comedy and deliciously written characters from the very start and ended up watching the entire series all the way through in one evening.
Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates dark humour, silliness and very well made period costume dramas :)
Confessions of a Conjuror
Despite being a fan of Derren's, I was a bit skeptical about this one as it received mixed reviews. This I can only attribute to its being so different to any autobiography I've read, but (I find) in a good way.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes his work enough to follow what he has been doing the past few years and is interested in gaining insight into his life and what makes him tick... both of which he is refreshingly candid about in this book.
It had me laughing out loud in parts--something I absolutely adore doing. I shall undoubtedly be re-reading it in future, unlike many other autobios on my shelf :)
James - CD

Like many people outside the U.K. I was initially exposed to the band James through the cheeky, brilliant and catchy hit "Laid". I didn't know what to expect when I bought the album but I'm certainly glad I did. It's not often that I like every single song on an album but this is one of those rare exceptions.
The composition is beautiful and atmospheric, the lyrics are poetic and the vocals are positively inspirational.
